فَحَقَدَ عِيسُو عَلَى يَعْقُوبَ مِنْ أَجْلِ الْبَرَكَةِ الَّتِي بَارَكَهُ بِهَا أَبُوهُ. وَقَالَ عِيسُو فِي قَلْبِهِ: «قَرُبَتْ أَيَّامُ مَنَاحَةِ أَبِي، فَأَقْتُلُ يَعْقُوبَ أَخِي».

وَحَقَدَ عِيسُو عَلَى يَعْقُوبَ مِنْ أَجْلِ مَا نَالَهُ مِنْ بَرَكَةِ أَبِيهِ. فَنَاجَى نَفْسَهُ: «قَرِيباً يَمُوتُ أَبِي، وَبَعْدَئِذٍ أَقْتُلُ أَخِي يَعْقُوبَ».
