ثُمَّ قَالَ الْمَلِكُ لِشِمْعِي: «أَنْتَ عَرَفْتَ كُلَّ الشَّرِّ الَّذِي عَلِمَهُ قَلْبُكَ الَّذِي فَعَلْتَهُ لِدَاوُدَ أَبِي، فَلْيَرُدَّ الرَّبُّ شَرَّكَ عَلَى رَأْسِكَ.

ثُمَّ قَالَ الْمَلِكُ لَهُ: «أَنْتَ تُدْرِكُ فِي قَرَارَةِ نَفْسِكَ كُلَّ الشَّرِّ الَّذِي ارْتَكَبْتَهُ فِي حَقِّ أَبِي، فَلْيُعَاقِبْكَ الرَّبُّ بِمَا جَنَتْهُ يَدَاكَ.
