Solomon loved the LORD by walking in the statutes of his father David, but he also sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.
Now Solomon loved the LORD, walking [at first] in the statutes of David his father, except [for the fact that] he sacrificed and burned incense in the high places [ignoring the law that required all sacrifices to be offered at the tabernacle].
وَأَحَبَّ سُلَيْمَانُ الرَّبَّ سَائِرًا فِي فَرَائِضِ دَاوُدَ أَبِيهِ، إِلاَّ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَذْبَحُ وَيُوقِدُ فِي الْمُرْتَفَعَاتِ.
