וַיֹּאמֶר לָהּ אֶלְקָנָה אִישָׁהּ עֲשִׂי הַטֹּוב בְּעֵינַיִךְ שְׁבִי עַד־גָּמְלֵךְ אֹתֹו אַךְ יָקֵם יְהוָה אֶת־דְּבָרֹו וַתֵּשֶׁב הָאִשָּׁה וַתֵּינֶק אֶת־בְּנָהּ עַד־גָמְלָהּ אֹתֹו׃

καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ Ελκανα ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς ποίει τὸ ἀγαθὸν ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς σου κάθου ἕως ἂν ἀπογαλακτίσῃς αὐτό ἀλλὰ στήσαι κύριος τὸ ἐξελθὸν ἐκ τοῦ στόματός σου καὶ ἐκάθισεν γυνὴ καὶ ἐθήλασεν τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς ἕως ἂν ἀπογαλακτίσῃ αὐτόν

فَقَالَ لَهَا أَلْقَانَةُ رَجُلُهَا: «اعْمَلِي مَا يَحْسُنُ فِي عَيْنَيْكِ. امْكُثِي حَتَّى تَفْطِمِيهِ. إِنَّمَا الرَّبُّ يُقِيمُ كَلاَمَهُ». فَمَكَثَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ وَأَرْضَعَتِ ابْنَهَا حَتَّى فَطَمَتْهُ.
