فَقَالَ يُوآبُ لِلْمَلِكِ: «لِيَزِدِ الرَّبُّ إِلهُكَ الشَّعْبَ أَمْثَالَهُمْ مِئَةَ ضِعْفٍ، وَعَيْنَا سَيِّدِي الْمَلِكِ نَاظِرَتَانِ. وَلكِنْ لِمَاذَا يُسَرُّ سَيِّدِي الْمَلِكُ بِهذَا الأَمْرِ؟»

فَأَجَابَ يُوآبُ: «لِيُضَاعِفِ الرَّبُّ الشَّعْبَ مِئَةَ مِثْلٍ وَأَنْتَ تَتَمَتَّعُ بِطُولِ الْعُمْرِ، وَلَكِنْ لِمَاذَا يَرْغَبُ سَيِّدِي الْمَلِكُ فِي مِثْلِ هَذَا الأَمْرِ؟»
