فَقَامَ يُونَاثَانُ عَنِ الْمَائِدَةِ بِحُمُوِّ غَضَبٍ وَلَمْ يَأْكُلْ خُبْزًا فِي الْيَوْمِ الثَّانِي مِنَ الشَّهْرِ، لأَنَّهُ اغْتَمَّ عَلَى دَاوُدَ، لأَنَّ أَبَاهُ قَدْ أَخْزَاهُ.

فَغَادَرَ الْمَائِدَةَ وَالْغَضَبُ الْجَامِحُ يَعْصِفُ بِهِ، مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَقْرُبَ الطَّعَامَ إِذْ سَاءَهُ تَصَرُّفُ وَالِدِهِ الْمُخْزِي مِنْ نَحْوِ دَاوُدَ. وَكَانَ ذَلِكَ فِي الْيَوْمِ الثَّانِي مِنْ أَوَّلِ الشَّهْرِ.
