فَقَالَ أُورِيَّا لِدَاوُدَ: «إِنَّ التَّابُوتَ وَإِسْرَائِيلَ وَيَهُوذَا سَاكِنُونَ فِي الْخِيَامِ، وَسَيِّدِي يُوآبُ وَعَبِيدُ سَيِّدِي نَازِلُونَ عَلَى وَجْهِ الصَّحْرَاءِ، وَأَنَا آتِي إِلَى بَيْتِي لآكُلَ وَأَشْرَبَ وَأَضْطَجعَ مَعَ امْرَأَتِي؟ وَحَيَاتِكَ وَحَيَاةِ نَفْسِكَ، لاَ أَفْعَلُ هذَا الأَمْرَ».

فَأَجَابَ: «التَّابُوتُ وَجَيْشُ إِسْرَائِيلَ وَيَهُوذَا مُعَسْكِرُونَ فِي الْخِيَامِ، وَكَذَلِكَ سَيِّدِي يُوآبُ، وَبَقِيَّةُ قُوَّادِ الْمَلِكِ مُخَيِّمُونَ فِي الْعَرَاءِ، فَهَلْ آتِي أَنَا إِلَى بَيْتِي لِآكُلَ وَأَشْرَبَ وَأُضَاجِعَ زَوْجَتِي؟ أُقْسِمُ بِحَيَاتِكَ، لَنْ أَفْعَلَ هَذَا الأَمْرَ».
