When all the Amorite kings across the Jordan to the west and all the Canaanite kings near the sea heard how the LORD had dried up the water of the Jordan before the Israelites until they had crossed over, they lost heart and their courage failed because of the Israelites.
Now it came H1961 about H1961 when all H3605 the kings H4428 of the Amorites H567 who H834 were beyond H5676 the Jordan H3383 to the west H3220, and all H3605 the kings H4428 of the Canaanites H3669 who H834 were by the sea H3220, heard H8085 how H854 H834 the LORD H3068 had dried H3001 up H3001 the waters H4325 of the Jordan H3383 before H4480 H6440 the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 until H5704 [fn]they had crossed H5674, that their hearts H3824 melted H4549, and there was no H3808 spirit H7307 in them any H5750 longer H5750 because H4480 H6440 of the sons H1121 of Israel H3478.
Now it happened H1961 when all H3605 the kings H4428 of the Amorites H567 who H834 were beyond H5676 the Jordan H3383 to the west H3220, and all H3605 the kings H4428 of the Canaanites H3669 who H834 were by the sea H3220, heard H8085 how H854 H834 Yahweh H3068 had dried H3001 up H3001 the waters H4325 of the Jordan H3383 before H4480 H6440 the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 until H5704 [fn]they had crossed H5674, that their hearts H3824 melted H4549, and there was no H3808 spirit H7307 in them any H5750 longer H5750 because H4480 H6440 of the sons H1121 of Israel H3478.
Now it happened when all the kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan to the west, and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the Israelites until they had crossed over, their hearts melted [in despair], and there was no [fighting] spirit in them any longer because of the Israelites [and what God had done for them].
