I. REMEMBER THE PAST IN RELATION TO GOD.
A. God's deliverance, He brought them out of Egypt (signs & wonders)
1. The history of the motion began here.
2. We too are to remember Gods deliverance from bondage.
B. God's leading "All the way, which the Lord thy God led thee."
1. God told them when to move and when to stop.
2. Where to pitch their tents.
3. As you see the wilderness journeys back & forth seems haphazard. God was there.
4. Think back on your own pathway. Not all the days rosy & bright. God was there leading.
C. God's Supply.
1. Manna, raiment, water.
2. God had not failed them.
3. What good things have you lacked?
II. THE LESSONS GOD WAS TEACHING.
A. That He might humble thee.
1. Pride most ghastly of all sins.
a. It demonstrates ignorance.
b. It foreshadows ruin; "Pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall."
2. God's purpose of wilderness to lead to spirit opposite of pride.
a. All God's methods are toward humbling.
b. His deliverance comes only in extreme hour.
c. When we give up and say I can't do it in myself, then He steps in.
3. God leads you through the wilderness to humble you, not to make you a slave, but to free you from that which would ruin you.
B. He delivers, leads, supplies that He might prove us.
1. Does not mean that He doesn't know - He wants you to know.
2. He brings circumstances to reveal to you hidden areas of your life.
a. Rebellion may lurk in your heart, even when you are singing "I Surrender All" on a sunny day.
1. He will bring you to a cloudy day.
b. Cowardice may be in your heart while you sing "Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus."
c. Hatred may be in my spirit when I am preaching love.
