"CALL HIS NAME JESUS"
I. THE MYSTERY OF THE INCARNATION.
A. The eternal God clothed Himself in a body of flesh.
1. "In the beginning was the Word...and the Word became flesh..."
2. "Who being in the form of God and thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but He emptied Himself and took upon Him the form of a servant..."
B. Why would God live in a man's body?
1. To manifest the truth about Himself.
a. Man had weird concepts of God.
b. "No man hath seen the Father at..."
c. Many begin to discover God in nature.
1. Not a full revelation.
2. Because nature has fallen, not always an accurate revelation.
d. Newspaper editor.
2. To identify with man.
a. God sits on His throne surrounded by angels, how can He know the struggles of my flesh against Satan's temptations?
b. How can He know what it is to be tired?
C. To set for man the pattern of the divine ideal.
1. To show the full potentials of manhood when lived in fellowship with God.
2. To forge the missing link so man would not have to seek to relate himself to animals but could relate himself to God.
II. CALL HIS NAME JESUS.
A. Jesus is the Greek for the Hebrew "Yashua."
1. This is a contradiction of "Yahweh Shua."
a. God or Yahweh our salvation.
2. The name expresses the mission of Christ.
a. "The Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."
b. "For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world by Him..."
B. The name "Yashua" is the greatest name on earth.
1. "Wherefore God has also highly exalted Him and given Him a name that is above all other names..."
2. What hope that name brings to man.
a. Hope for a better life.
b. Hope for a better world.
3. What comfort that name brings.
4. What power that name has.
a. John 14, "If ye ask the Father..."
b. Peter to lame man.
III. "FOR HE SHALL SAVE HIS PEOPLE FROM THEIR SINS."
A. God gives the meaning of the name.
B. Who are His people?
1. Those who today are trusting in Him.
2. He wants you to be one of His people.
C. "For there is no other name under heaven given unto men whereby ye must be saved."
