Stone was educated at the Charterhouse, and at Pembroke College, Oxford (BA 1862, MA 1872). After taking Holy Orders he became curate of Windsor in 1862, and of St. Paul’s, Haggerston, 1870. In 1874, he succeeded his father at St. Paul’s. He wrote at least four dozen hymns. His works include:
