“When the LORD brings you into the land of the Canaanites, as he swore to you and your ancestors, and gives it to you,
“When men get in a fight and hit a pregnant woman so that her children are born prematurely but there is no injury, the one who hit her must be fined as the woman's husband demands from him, and he must pay according to judicial assessment.
“If instead a ransom is demanded of him, he can pay a redemption price for his life in the full amount demanded from him.
“If the ox gores a male or female slave, he must give thirty shekels of silver[fn] to the slave's master, and the ox must be stoned.
“the owner of the pit must give compensation; he must pay to its owner, but the dead animal will become his.
“He is to make restitution for his sin regarding any holy thing, adding a fifth of its value to it, and give it to the priest. Then the priest will make atonement on his behalf with the ram of the guilt offering, and he will be forgiven.
“He must take two turtledoves or two young pigeons on the eighth day, come before the LORD at the entrance to the tent of meeting, and give them to the priest.
“If anyone eats a holy offering in error, he is to add a fifth to its value and give the holy offering to the priest.
“Then the land will yield its fruit, so that you can eat, be satisfied, and live securely in the land.
“I will give you rain at the right time, and the land will yield its produce, and the trees of the field will bear their fruit.

“This is the priests' share from the people who offer a sacrifice, whether it is an ox, a sheep, or a goat; the priests are to be given the shoulder, jaws, and stomach.
“the man who raped her is to give the young woman's father fifty silver shekels, and she will become his wife because he violated her. He cannot divorce her as long as he lives.
“If a man marries a woman, but she becomes displeasing to him because he finds something indecent about her, he may write her a divorce certificate, hand it to her, and send her away from his house.
“and the second man hates her, writes her a divorce certificate, hands it to her, and sends her away from his house or if he dies,
“Now if you faithfully obey the LORD your God and are careful to follow all his commands I am giving you today, the LORD your God will put you far above all the nations of the earth.
“You will find no peace among those nations, and there will be no resting place for the sole of your foot. There the LORD will give you a trembling heart, failing eyes, and a despondent spirit.
“The LORD your God will put all these curses on your enemies who hate and persecute you.
The men of Israel had sworn an oath at Mizpah: “None of us will give his daughter to a Benjaminite in marriage.”
“May your house become like the house of Perez, the son Tamar bore to Judah, because of the offspring the LORD will give you by this young woman.”

And all the prophets were prophesying the same: “March up to Ramoth-gilead and succeed, for the LORD will hand it over to the king.”
So he went to the king, and the king asked him, “Micaiah, should we go to Ramoth-gilead for war, or should we refrain? ”
Micaiah told him, “March up and succeed. The LORD will hand it over to the king.”
So the king of Israel gathered the prophets, four hundred men, and asked them, “Should we go to Ramoth-gilead for war or should I refrain? ”
They replied, “March up, and God will hand it over to the king.”
And all the prophets were prophesying the same, saying, “March up to Ramoth-gilead and succeed, for the LORD will hand it over to the king.”
He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams[fn]
that bears its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.
Oh, that Israel's deliverance would come from Zion!

For the LORD God is a sun and shield.
The LORD grants favor and honor;
he does not withhold the good
from those who live with integrity.
When there is a person whose work was done with wisdom, knowledge, and skill, and he must give his portion to a person who has not worked for it, this too is futile and a great wrong.
God gives a person riches, wealth, and honor so that he lacks nothing of all he desires for himself, but God does not allow him to enjoy them. Instead, a stranger will enjoy them. This is futile and a sickening tragedy.
It is better to go to a house of mourning
than to go to a house of feasting,
since that is the end of all mankind,
and the living should take it to heart.
Indeed, the stars of the sky and its constellations[fn]
will not give their light.
The sun will be dark when it rises,
and the moon will not shine.
For the LORD's power will rest on this mountain.
But Moab will be trampled in his place[fn]
as straw is trampled in a dung pile.
The Lord will give you meager bread and water during oppression, but your Teacher[fn] will not hide any longer. Your eyes will see your Teacher,
If my head were a flowing spring,
my eyes a fountain of tears,

over the slain of my dear[fn] people.
Can any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain?
Or can the skies alone give showers?
Are you not the LORD our God?
We therefore put our hope in you,
for you have done all these things.
“As for you, you are to prophesy all these things to them, and say to them:
The LORD roars from on high;
he makes his voice heard from his holy dwelling.
He roars loudly over his grazing land;
he calls out with a shout, like those who tread grapes,
against all the inhabitants of the earth.
Let him offer his cheek
to the one who would strike him;
let him be filled with disgrace.
“He doesn't oppress anyone but returns his collateral to the debtor. He does not commit robbery, but gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with clothing.
“He doesn't lend at interest or for profit but keeps his hand from injustice and carries out true justice between men.
“He will slaughter your villages on the mainland with the sword. He will set up siege works, build a ramp, and raise a wall of shields against you.
“The trees of the field will yield their fruit, and the land will yield its produce; my flock will be secure in their land. They will know that I am the LORD when I break the bars of their yoke and rescue them from the power of those who enslave them.
“All the people of the land must take part in this contribution for the prince in Israel.
“The priest is to take some of the blood from the sin offering and apply it to the temple doorposts, the four corners of the altar's ledge, and the doorposts of the gate of the inner court.
“This word is by decree of the watchers,
and the decision is by command from the holy ones.
This is so that the living will know
that the Most High is ruler
over human kingdoms.
He gives them to anyone he wants
and sets the lowliest of people over them.
“You will be driven away from people to live with the wild animals. You will feed on grass like cattle and be drenched with dew from the sky for seven periods of time, until you acknowledge that the Most High is ruler over human kingdoms, and he gives them to anyone he wants.

“He was driven away from people, his mind was like an animal's, he lived with the wild donkeys, he was fed grass like cattle, and his body was drenched with dew from the sky until he acknowledged that the Most High God is ruler over human kingdoms and sets anyone he wants over them.
The LORD makes his voice heard
in the presence of his army.
His camp is very large;
those who carry out his command are powerful.
Indeed, the day of the LORD is terrible and dreadful —
who can endure it?
The LORD will roar from Zion
and make his voice heard from Jerusalem;
heaven and earth will shake.
But the LORD will be a refuge for his people,
a stronghold for the Israelites.
Does a lion roar in the forest
when it has no prey?
Does a young lion growl from its lair
unless it has captured something?
Therefore, Israel will be abandoned until the time
when she who is in labor has given birth;
then the rest of the ruler's brothers will return
to the people of Israel.
The righteous LORD is in her;
he does no wrong.
He applies his justice morning by morning;
he does not fail at dawn,
yet the one who does wrong knows no shame.
“For they will sow in peace: the vine will yield its fruit, the land will yield its produce, and the skies will yield their dew. I will give the remnant of this people all these things as an inheritance.
