“I prayed to the LORD:

Saul recognized David's voice and asked, “Is that your voice, my son David? ”

“It is my voice, my lord and king,” David said.

When the woman from Tekoa came[fn] to the king, she fell facedown to the ground, paid homage, and said, “Help me, Your Majesty! ”

Then the woman of Tekoa said to the king, “My lord the king, may any blame be on me and my father's family, and may the king and his throne be innocent.”

The king asked, “Did Joab put you up to[fn] all this? ”

The woman answered. “As you live, my lord the king, no one can turn to the right or left from all my lord the king says. Yes, your servant Joab is the one who gave orders to me; he told your servant exactly what to say.[fn]

Joab fell with his face to the ground in homage and blessed the king. “Today,” Joab said, “your servant knows I have found favor with you, my lord the king, because the king has granted the request of your servant.”

Then Jehu son of the seer Hanani went out to confront him[fn] and said to King Jehoshaphat, “Do you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD? Because of this, the LORD's wrath is on you.

However, a man of God came to him and said, “King, do not let Israel's army go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel ​— ​all the Ephraimites.

But Neco sent messengers to him, saying, “What is the issue between you and me, king of Judah? I have not come against you today[fn] but I am fighting another dynasty.[fn] God told me to hurry. Stop opposing God who is with me; don't make him destroy you! ”

“You are to say, ‘Hear the word of the LORD, king of Judah, you who sit on the throne of David ​— ​you, your officers, and your people who enter these gates.

“ ‘Yet hear the LORD's word, King Zedekiah of Judah. This is what the LORD says concerning you: You will not die by the sword;

“So now please listen, my lord the king. May my petition come before you. Don't send me back to the house of Jonathan the scribe, or I will die there.”

The Chaldeans spoke to the king (Aramaic[fn] begins here): “May the king live forever. Tell your servants the dream, and we will give the interpretation.”

“Your Majesty, while you were in your bed, thoughts came to your mind about what will happen in the future.[fn] The revealer of mysteries has let you know what will happen.

“Your Majesty, as you were watching, suddenly a colossal statue appeared. That statue, tall and dazzling, was standing in front of you, and its appearance was terrifying.

“Your Majesty, you are king of kings. The God of the heavens has given you sovereignty, power, strength, and glory.

They said to King Nebuchadnezzar, “May the king live forever.

“There are some Jews you have appointed to manage the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men have ignored you, the king; they do not serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”

“If the God we serve exists, then he can rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire, and he can[fn] rescue us from the power of you, the king.

Then King Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in alarm. He said to his advisers, “Didn't we throw three men, bound, into the fire? ”

“Yes, of course, Your Majesty,” they replied to the king.

“that tree is you, Your Majesty. For you have become great and strong: your greatness has grown and even reaches the sky, and your dominion extends to the ends of the earth.

“This is the interpretation, Your Majesty, and this is the decree of the Most High that has been issued against my lord the king:

“Therefore, may my advice seem good to you my king. Separate yourself from your sins by doing what is right, and from your injustices by showing mercy to the needy. Perhaps there will be an extension of your prosperity.”

While the words were still in the king's mouth, a voice came from heaven: “King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is declared that the kingdom has departed from you.

Because of the outcry of the king and his nobles, the queen[fn] came to the banquet hall. “May the king live forever,” she said. “Don't let your thoughts terrify you or your face be pale.[fn]

“Your Majesty, the Most High God gave sovereignty, greatness, glory, and majesty to your predecessor Nebuchadnezzar.

So the administrators and satraps went together to the king and said to him, “May King Darius live forever.

So they approached the king and asked about his edict: “Didn't you sign an edict that for thirty days any person who petitions any god or man except you, the king, will be thrown into the lions' den? ”

The king answered, “As a law of the Medes and Persians, the order stands[fn] and is irrevocable.”

Then these men went together to the king and said to him, “You know, Your Majesty, that it is a law of the Medes and Persians that no edict or ordinance the king establishes can be changed.”

Then Daniel spoke with the king: “May the king live forever.
