As they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take and eat it; this is my body.”
“It is like a man on a journey, who left his house, gave authority to his servants, gave each one his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to be alert.
He gave her his hand and helped her stand up. He called the saints and widows and presented her alive.
“And God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as he also did to us.
He did not waver in unbelief at God's promise but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,
which our respectable parts do not need.
Instead, God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the less honorable,
He has also put his seal on us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a down payment.
Now the one who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave us the Spirit as a down payment.
May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal encouragement and good hope by grace,
