See, the virgin will become pregnant

and give birth to a son,

and they will name him Immanuel,

which is translated “God is with us.”

“Why does he speak like this? He's blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone? ”

“But from the beginning of creation God[fn] made them male and female.

“Why do you call me good? ”  Jesus asked him. “No one is good except God alone.

And at three Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lemá sabachtháni? ” which is translated, “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? ”

Then the scribes and the Pharisees began to think to themselves, “Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone? ”

“Go back to your home, and tell all that God has done for you.” And off he went, proclaiming throughout the town how much Jesus had done for him.

“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life is demanded of you. And the things you have prepared ​— ​whose will they be? '

“The Pharisee was standing and praying like this about himself:[fn] ‘God, I thank you that I'm not like other people ​— ​greedy, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

“But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even raise his eyes to heaven but kept striking his chest and saying, ‘God, have mercy on me,[fn] a sinner! '

“Why do you call me good? ” Jesus asked him. “No one is good except God alone.

“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and in truth.”

“Don't work for the food that perishes but for the food that lasts for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set his seal of approval on him.”

“We know that God has spoken to Moses. But this man ​— ​we don't know where he's from.”

“Yet even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.”

Thomas responded to him, “My Lord and my God! ”

“And it will be in the last days, says God,

that I will pour out my Spirit on all people;

then your sons and your daughters will prophesy,

your young men will see visions,

and your old men will dream dreams.

“God has raised this Jesus; we are all witnesses of this.

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”

Peter began to speak: “Now I truly understand that God doesn't show favoritism,

Then Paul said to him, “God is going to strike you, you whitewashed wall! You are sitting there judging me according to the law, and yet in violation of the law are you ordering me to be struck? ”

God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in telling the good news about his Son ​— ​that I constantly mention you,

since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.

God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world ​— ​what is viewed as nothing ​— ​to bring to nothing what is viewed as something,

So, then, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.

If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is holy, and that is what you are.

But if the unbeliever leaves, let him leave. A brother or a sister is not bound in such cases. God has called you[fn] to live in peace.

Let each one live his life in the situation the Lord assigned when God called him.[fn] This is what I command in all the churches.

Nevertheless God was not pleased with most of them, since they were struck down in the wilderness.

No temptation has come upon you except what is common to humanity. But God is faithful; he will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to bear it.

But I want you to know that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of the woman,[fn] and God is the head of Christ.

And there are different activities, but the same God works all of them in each person.

Now it is God who strengthens us together with you in Christ, and who has anointed us.

Now the one who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave us the Spirit as a down payment.

And what agreement does the temple of God have with idols? For we[fn] are the temple of the living God, as God said:

I will dwell

and walk among them,

and I will be their God,

and they will be my people.

Each person should do as he has decided in his heart ​— ​not reluctantly or out of compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver.

I fear that when I come my God will again[fn] humiliate me in your presence, and I will grieve for many who sinned before and have not repented of the moral impurity, sexual immorality, and sensuality they practiced.

For if the inheritance is based on the law, it is no longer based on the promise; but God has graciously given it to Abraham through the promise.

For God is my witness, how deeply I miss all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

And my God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

You are witnesses, and so is God, of how devoutly, righteously, and blamelessly we conducted ourselves with you believers.

He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he sits[fn] in God's temple, proclaiming that he himself is God.

For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,

but to[fn] the Son:

Your throne, God,

is forever and ever,

and the scepter of your kingdom

is a scepter of justice.

Again, I will trust in him. And again, Here I am with the children God gave me.

Now every house is built by someone, but the one who built everything is God.

For the person who has entered his rest has rested from his own works, just as God did from his.

And we will do this if God permits.

For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater to swear by, he swore by himself:

saying, This is the blood of the covenant that God has ordained for you.

Then I said, “See —

it is written about me

in the scroll —

I have come to do your will, God.”

By faith Enoch was taken away, and so he did not experience death. He was not to be found because God took him away. For before he was taken away, he was approved as one who pleased God.

For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.

He considered God to be able even to raise someone from the dead; therefore, he received him back, figuratively speaking.[fn]

Endure suffering as discipline: God is dealing with you as sons. For what son is there that a father does not discipline?

Marriage is to be honored by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, because God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.

Don't neglect to do what is good and to share, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.

You believe that God is one. Good! Even the demons believe ​— ​and they shudder.

If anyone speaks, let it be as one who speaks God's words; if anyone serves, let it be from the strength God provides, so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

The revelation of[fn] Jesus Christ that God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,

Then I heard a loud voice from the throne:[fn] Look, God's dwelling[fn] is with humanity, and he will live with them. They will be his peoples,[fn] and God himself will be with them and will be their God.[fn]
