PSALM 102

Prayer of an Afflicted Man for Mercy on Himself and on Zion.

A Prayer of the afflicted when he is weak and [fn]pours out his complaint before the LORD.

1 Hear ^H8085 my prayer ^H8605, LORD ^H3068!

And let my cry ^H7775 for ^H7775 help ^H7775 come ^H935 to You.

2 Do not hide ^H5641 Your face ^H6440 from me on the day ^H3117 of my distress ^H6862;

Incline ^H5186 Your ear ^H241 to me;

On the day ^H3117 when I call ^H7121 answer ^H6030 me quickly ^H4118.

3 For my days ^H3117 have ended ^H3615 in smoke ^H6227,

And my bones ^H6106 have been ^H2787 scorched ^H2787 like a hearth ^H4168.

4 My heart ^H3820 has been struck ^H5221 like [fn]grass ^H6212 and has withered ^H3001,

Indeed ^H3588, I forget ^H7911 to eat ^H398 my bread ^H3899.

5 Because ^H4480 of the [fn]loudness ^H6963 of my groaning ^H585

My bones ^H6106 [fn]cling ^H1692 to my flesh ^H1320.

6 I resemble ^H1819 a pelican ^H6893 of the wilderness ^H4057;

I have become ^H1961 like an owl ^H3563 of the ruins ^H2723.

7 I lie ^H8245 awake ^H8245,

I have become ^H1961 like a solitary ^H909 bird ^H6833 on a housetop ^H1406.

8 My enemies ^H340 have taunted ^H2778 me all ^H3605 day ^H3117 long;

Those who [fn]deride ^H1984 me [fn]have used ^H7650 my name as a curse ^H7650.

9 For I have eaten ^H398 ashes ^H665 like bread ^H3899,

And mixed ^H4537 my drink ^H8250 with weeping ^H1065

10 Because ^H4480 H6440 of Your indignation ^H2195 and Your wrath ^H7110;

For You have lifted ^H5375 me up ^H5375 and thrown ^H7993 me away ^H7993.

11 My days ^H3117 are like a [fn]lengthened ^H5186 shadow ^H6738,

And [fn]I wither ^H3001 away like [fn]grass ^H6212.

12 But You, LORD ^H3068, [fn]remain ^H3427 forever ^H5769,

And Your [fn]name ^H2143 remains to all ^H1755 generations ^H1755.

13 You will arise ^H6965 and have ^H7355 compassion ^H7355 on ^H7355 Zion ^H6726;

For it is time ^H6256 to be ^H2603 gracious ^H2603 to her,

For the appointed ^H4150 time ^H4150 has come ^H935.

14 Surely ^H3588 Your servants ^H5650 [fn]take ^H7521 pleasure ^H7521 in her stones ^H68,

And feel ^H2603 pity ^H2603 for her dust ^H6083.

And all ^H3605 the kings ^H4428 of the earth ^H776, Your glory ^H3519.

16 For the LORD ^H3068 has built ^H1129 up ^H1129 Zion ^H6726;

He has appeared ^H7200 in His glory ^H3519.

17 He has turned ^H6437 His attention ^H6437 to the prayer ^H8605 of the [fn]destitute ^H6199

And has not despised ^H959 their prayer ^H8605.

18 [fn]This ^H2088 will be written ^H3789 for the generation ^H1755 to come ^H314,

[fn]That a people ^H5971 yet to be created ^H1254 [fn]may praise ^H1984 [fn]the LORD ^H3050:

19 For He looked ^H8259 down ^H8259 from His holy ^H6944 height ^H4791;

From heaven ^H8064 the LORD ^H3068 looked ^H5027 [fn]upon the earth ^H776,

20 To hear ^H8085 the groaning ^H603 of the prisoner ^H615,

To set ^H6605 free ^H6605 [fn]those ^H1121 who were doomed ^H1121 to death ^H8546,

21 So that people may tell ^H5608 of the name ^H8034 of the LORD ^H3068 in Zion ^H6726,

And His praise ^H8416 in Jerusalem ^H3389,

22 When the peoples ^H5971 are gathered ^H6908 together ^H3162,

And the kingdoms ^H4467, to serve ^H5647 the LORD ^H3068.

23 He has broken ^H6031 my strength ^H3581 in the way ^H1870;

He has shortened ^H7114 my days ^H3117.

24 I say ^H559, “My God ^H410, do not take ^H5927 me away ^H5927 in the middle ^H2677 of my days ^H3117,

Your years ^H8141 are [fn]throughout all ^H1755 generations ^H1755.

25 “In time ^H6440 of old ^H6440 You founded ^H3245 the earth ^H776,

And the heavens ^H8064 are the work ^H4639 of Your hands ^H3027.

26 “[fn]Even they will perish ^H6, but You endure ^H5975;

All ^H3605 of them will wear ^H1086 out ^H1086 like a garment ^H899;

Like clothing ^H3830 You will change ^H2498 them and they will pass ^H2498 away ^H2498.

27 “But You are [fn]the same ^H1931,

And Your years ^H8141 will not come ^H8552 to ^H8552 an ^H8552 end ^H8552.

28 “The children ^H1121 of Your servants ^H5650 will continue ^H7931,

And their [fn]descendants ^H2233 will be established ^H3559 before ^H6440 You.”
