Do Not Forget the Afflicted

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:1 -

Lamedh

[fn]Why do You stand afar off, O Yahweh?

Why do You hide [fn]Yourself in times of distress?

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:2 -

In his lofty pride the wicked [fn]hotly pursues the afflicted;

[fn]Let them be caught in the thoughts which they have devised.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:3 -

For the wicked boasts of his soul’s desire,

And [fn]the greedy man curses and spurns Yahweh.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:4 -

The wicked, in the haughtiness of his countenance, does not seek Him.

All his [fn]thoughts are, “There is no God.”

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:5 -

His ways [fn]prosper at all times;

Your judgments are on high, out of his sight;

As for all his adversaries, he snorts at them.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:6 -

He says in his heart, “I will not be shaken;

[fn]From generation to generation I will not be in adversity.”

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:7 -

Pe

His mouth is full of curses and deceit and oppression;

Under his tongue is mischief and wickedness.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:8 -

Ayin

He sits in the [fn]places of the villages where one lies in wait;

In the hiding places he kills the innocent;

His eyes [fn]stealthily watch for the [fn]unfortunate.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:9 -

He lies in wait in a hiding place as a lion in his [fn]lair;

He lies in wait to catch the afflicted;

He catches the afflicted when he draws him into his net.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:10 -

He [fn]crouches, he [fn]bows down,

And the [fn]unfortunate fall [fn]by his mighty ones.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:11 -

He says in his heart, “God has forgotten;

He has hidden His face; He will never see it.”

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:12 -

Qoph

Arise, O Yahweh; O God, lift up Your hand.

Do not forget the afflicted.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:13 -

Why has the wicked spurned God?

He has said in his heart, “You will not require it.”

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:14 -

Resh

You have seen it, for You have beheld mischief and vexation to [fn]take it into Your hand.

The [fn]unfortunate commits himself to You;

You have been the helper of the orphan.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:15 -

Shin

Break the arm of the wicked and the evildoer,

[fn]Seek out his wickedness until You find none.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:16 -

Yahweh is King forever and ever;

Nations have perished from His land.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:17 -

Tav

O Yahweh, You have heard the desire of the [fn]humble;

You will strengthen their heart, You will cause Your ear to give heed

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 10:18 -

To give justice to the orphan and the oppressed,

So that man who is of the earth will no longer cause terror.
