"THE BEAUTY OF THE LORD OUR GOD"
Intro: Moses in wilderness at the time of writing. Out in nature our hearts instinctively turn towards God. Their days had been numbered by God. Conscious of human limitations contrasted with "From everlasting."
I. "TEACH US TO NUMBER OUR DAYS."
A. Too many live as though this was all.
1. Their plans and schemes laid out for this life only.
2. Jesus told of successful farmer.
3. We need to be conscious of our limited time and plan the eternal into our lives.
B. God has allotted us certain days upon the earth.
1. He knows your appointed time, He knows how your death will occur.
2. As He watches us lay out plans that exclude Him, how many times does He say "Thou fool, this night, within a week, before this New Year is past thy soul."
C. Let my activities be governed by the consciousness of eternity.
1. Some of those new things I think I must have really aren't that important.
D. "That we might apply our hearts to wisdom."
1. To think in terms of temporal only - folly.
2. To think constantly in terms of material possessions.
3. To be caught up in worldly things - folly.
II. "LET THE BEAUTY OF THE LORD OUR GOD."
A. God's beauty displayed in nature.
1. Arizona sunset.
2. Pounding surf.
3. Clear stream in the heart of the forest.
B. God's beauty displayed in His nature.
1. Love.
2. Grace.
3. Mercy.
4. Forgiving.
5. Kindness.
6. Goodness.
C. "Be upon Us."
1. How my heart yearns to be as God.
2. The flesh when it rules is such a tyrant.
a. Those things that I fought for so empty.
b. Those pleasures that I cheated to gain so unfullfilling.
3. I would be rid of this bondage of the flesh, but how?
a. Live in the consciousness of the eternal.
b. Submit to the Spirit of God.
c. Be led by the Spirit.
1. He will lead you to read the Word.
2. He will lead yout o pray.
3. He will lead you to praise.
4. He will lead you to service.
"Walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh."
