"THY KINGDOM COME"
I. THE BIBLE IS FULL OF PROPHECIES OF THE REIGN OF THE MESSIAH OVER THE WHOLE EARTH.
A. Back in Genesis when Jacob was prophesying over his sons, when he got to Judah he prophesied:
GEN 49:8 Judah, thou [art he] whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand [shall be] in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee.
GEN 49:10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him [shall] the gathering of the people [be].
B. In Exodus, Moses prophesied:
EXO 15:18 The LORD shall reign for ever and ever.
C. The Lord promised David,
2SA 7:12 And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.
2SA 7:13 He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
2SA 7:16 And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.
D. The psalms are full of prophecies of the coming reign of the Messiah.
PSA 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou [art] my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
PSA 2:8 Ask of me, and I shall give [thee] the heathen [for] thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth [for] thy possession.
PSA 22:27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
PSA 22:28 For the kingdom [is] the LORD'S: and he [is] the governor among the nations.
PSA 67:4 O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon the earth. Selah.
PSA 72:8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.
PSA 72:11 Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.
PSA 82:8 Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.
PSA 86:9 All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name.
PSA 145:11 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power;
PSA 145:13 Thy kingdom [is] an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion [endureth] throughout all generations.
PSA 146:10 The LORD shall reign for ever, [even] thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the LORD.
E. Isaiah also gave many prophecies of the coming kingdom.
ISA 9:7 Of the increase of [his] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
ISA 45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth [in] righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
F. Daniel interpreted the dream of Nebuchadnezer wherein God showed him the five world ruling empires. The dream was of a great image with a head of gold, chest of silver, stomach of brass and legs of iron with feet of an iron clay mixture. The fifth empire is described by Daniel:
Dan 2:34 You watched this great image until a stone that was not cut with hands, which struck the image upon his feet [that were] of iron and clay, and broke them to pieces.
Dan 2:35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
Dan 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, [but] it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
Dan 2:45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream [is] certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
Dan 7:9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment [was] white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne [was like] the fiery flame, [and] his wheels [as] burning fire.
Dan 7:10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.
Dan 7:11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld [even] till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
Dan 7:12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.
Dan 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, [one] like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
Dan 7:14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion [is] an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom [that] which shall not be destroyed.
G. Jesus spoke of His coming again in power and great glory.
MAT 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
MAT 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
MAT 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
MAT 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth [his] sheep from the goats:
MAT 25:33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
H. Paul the Apostle wrote:
ROM 14:11 For it is written, [As] I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
Phl 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Phl 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Phl 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Phl 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Phl 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth;
Phl 2:11 And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
II. WHAT ARE WE TOLD OF HIS KINGDOM?
A. That it will be universal.
1. He is to be the King of kings, and the Lord of lords.
2. Every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess.
3. The Stone becomes a Kingdom that covers the whole earth.
B. It will be a righteous kingdom.
PSA 9:8 And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.
PSA 96:10 Say among the heathen [that] the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously.
PSA 96:11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof.
PSA 96:12 Let the field be joyful, and all that [is] therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice
PSA 96:13 Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.
ISA 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
ISA 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
ISA 11:3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
ISA 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
ISA 11:5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
Act 17:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by [that] man whom he hath ordained; [whereof] he hath given assurance unto all [men], in that he hath raised him from the dead.
C. His Kingdom shall reign in peace over the earth.
ISA 2:4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
ROM 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
ISA 11:6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
ISA 11:7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
ISA 11:9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
D. In His Kingdom all of the wrongs will be made right. There will be no physical handicaps.
ISA 35:5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
ISA 35:6 Then shall the lame [man] leap as an hart, and the tongue of the mute sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.
E. His Kingdom is forever.
1. And He shall reign forever and ever.
III. HOW TO GAIN ENTRANCE INTO HIS KINGDOM.
A. Nicodemus a ruler of the Jews came to Jesus one night and declared his belief that Jesus was from God, because no man could do the miracles that He did unless God was with Him. Jesus answered:
JOH 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
JOH 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
JOH 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
JOH 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
B. You had no choice in your first birth, one day you just arrived. Not so your second birth. That has everything to do with choice.
1. Because your parents were Christians, does not mean that you are born again.
2. Because your parents had you baptized when you were an infant does not mean that you have been born again.
C. How is a person born again?
1. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him.
2. There is the key, believing in Jesus Christ and submitting to Him as king. "King of my life, I crown Thee now, Thine shall the glory be, lest I forget Thy throne crowned brow, Lead me to calvary."
