THE new birth is the door of the Kingdom of God (John 3:3)

  1. Necessity of the new birth. “Ye must be born again” (John 3:7). The “must” tells us of the absolute necessity.
  2. Author of the new birth. “Of His own will begat He us” (James 1:18). God is the Author of the new creation, as well as of the old.
  3. Procurer of the new birth. “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God” (1 John 5:1). The Christ, who died, is the Procurer of the new life.
  4. Effecter of the new birth. “Born of the Spirit” (John 3:6). The Holy Spirit is the Effective Worker in grace.
  5. Instrument of the new birth. “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God” (1 Peter 1:23).
  6. Evidence of the new birth. (See 1 John 2:29; 3:9; 4:7; 5:1; 5:18, R.V.).
