第三个例子所关乎的是力量，以及抵抗欺压者攻击的能力。有人攻胜孤身一人，但是若有二人便能敌挡攻击者。欺压并不是好事，但是抵挡攻击的方法之一就是以数取胜。团队永远比个体强大。
所罗门又提供了一个不同类别的说明，他观察到三股合成的绳子不容易折断。添加第三股绳子清楚地表明其价值不只体现于合作，也在于增加数量。在社区团体中生活和工作，团队合作可以添加许多力量。
