亚伯兰离开埃及，前往迦南。来到内盖夫。内盖夫的意思是“南方”或“南方国家”。这里指的是南方国家，是地理上的目的地，而不仅仅是指南针的方向。罗得也和他在一起。这次亚伯兰的侄子罗得被列入记录中，他最后一次被提及是在创世记 12:5。
