-二十岁以上。二十岁是当兵的最低年龄。
-凡能出征以色列的。这意味着此人没有任何身体上的缺陷，不会影响他参加战斗的能力。这就是人口普查的目的-统计出有多少人可以在战争中服兵役。
耶和华告诉摩西，他和亚伦要按军队数点他们。
在第 4 节中，耶和华告诉摩西要派人协助统计人口。具体来说，他说，每支派都要派一个人来协助统计人口。摩西要从每个支派中指定一个人来协助统计人口。他需要成为“他父亲家的家主”。
