除了外在的洁净，利未人也需要内心的洁净。为此，耶和华指示他们取一头公牛，并献上素祭，就是调油的细面；再取一头公牛作赎罪祭（第 8 节）。“素祭”与旨在取悦耶和华的敬拜有关。它是牺牲自己、献身侍奉耶和华的象征，也是一个人（无论男女）献身遵守耶和华律法的象征。
