箴言10章8节，所罗门写道： “心中智慧的，必领受训诲；愚妄无知的，必自取灭亡。” （第8节）智慧始于谦逊好学。智者并非拥有所有答案，而是拥有一颗乐于接受教导的心。
拥有智慧的心意味着智慧已深入人心。这不仅仅是智力上的技能，更是谦逊、接纳和顺从真理。智者深知自己需要指引，正因如此，他们才能不断成长。他们接受指令，因为他们认可权威的正当性，并明白纠正是人生的一部分。
然而，那喋喋不休的愚人却只顾说而不听。他更相信自己的言语，而非来自外界的真理。这就是他败坏的原因。他的话语暴露出他那颗不愿接受教导的心。雅各后来也重申了这一原则，他劝勉信徒要快快地听，慢慢地说（雅各书 1:19）。
