箴言12章6节，所罗门说： “恶人的言语埋伏流人血，正直人的口却拯救自己。” （第6节）在箴言中，言语从来都不是中立的。这里，言语既可以被视为暴力的陷阱，也可以被视为拯救的途径。

相反，正直人的口能拯救他们。正直的言语能拯救人，因为真理能捍卫正义，揭露谎言，保护无辜者。这句箴言强调了上帝如何运用言语的力量，既能毁灭也能拯救。它也预示了新约圣经的主题：诚实的言语是爱邻舍和行义的一部分。
