箴言12章8节，所罗门说： “人必因他的智慧得称赞；心思乖僻的人必被藐视。”（第8节）人若给予的尊重是恰当的，应当基于智慧而非外表。洞察力使人真正值得尊重。
因其洞察力而受赞誉，意味着理解力结出了显而易见的果实。一个有洞察力的人能够看清现实，做出明智的回应，并对他人有所助益。这种洞察力自然会赢得尊重，因为它造福了社群。
相反，邪恶的心灵扭曲现实，因此失去荣耀。《箴言》中的邪恶并非仅仅指怪异的行为，而是指扭曲的内心世界，使原本正直的事物面目全非。这样的人或许寻求认可，但最终却因其品行不可信赖且有害而遭人鄙视。
