保罗结束本章的方式中有一个终结。案子结了。以色列并没有被忘记。外邦人已经在犹太人的不顺服中得赎。
保罗并没有假装说这一点对人的思想而言是可理解的。他以一首有关神审判和旨意的有力颂歌结束本章：深哉，神丰富的智慧和知识！他的判断何其难测！他的踪迹何其难寻！没有人可以完全理解神的所作所为。没有人能给神建议，告诉祂该做什么。
没有人可以赢得怜悯，赚取救恩，或做任何事使神欠我们什么。所有的生物、所有的受造物、所有的一切都来自神。我们人类无法协调神如何掌管万事的同时，也主张人类可以自由选择，并要对自己的行为负责。但保罗清楚地表明，我们正确的回应应当是敬拜神，对神无限的怜悯和智慧产生敬畏，而非烦恼于或坚持于我们必须得到完全理解的解决办法。谁知道主的心？谁作过他的谋士呢？谁是先给了他，使他后来偿还呢？我们是受造体，但神允许我们在世上与祂产生关系，成为祂的儿子或配偶。神向人类所显明的怜悯是莫测高深的。
在这封书信和有关以色列的这三章 (9、10、11) 的语境中，保罗显明神是掌权的；祂呼召，人选择；我们堕落，但神的选民将要被拯救，包括以色列在内。这些是神选召的人。我们拒绝祂，但祂救赎我们。保罗在回答的问题是："这一切如何运行呢？" 他的回答很简单，"神是神，祂如何动工是一个奥秘。" 虽然如此，保罗依然以赞美神结束。愿荣耀归给他，直到永远。阿们！
