In Proverbs 11:5, Solomon writes, The righteousness of the blameless will smooth his way, but the wicked will fall by his own wickedness. Righteousness creates a smoother path because it aligns a person with how God designed life to work. It does not eliminate hardship, but it removes much needless trouble produced by sin.
The blameless are not sinless people, but those who walk with integrity and sincerity before God. Their way is made smoother because righteousness reduces inner conflict, relational chaos, and self-created traps. Wisdom produces a life that fits reality more naturally.
The wicked, however, will fall by his own wickedness. This is a recurring Proverbs theme: sin is not merely judged from the outside; it often carries its own collapse within it. The wicked do not only suffer despite their evil. Very often they suffer through the evil they themselves chose.
