The contrast set forth in Proverbs 14:18 by Solomon reveals that The naive inherit foolishness, but the sensible are crowned with knowledge (v. 18). Everyone receives something from the path they choose. The question is what kind of inheritance it is.
The naive person, if left unformed, will inherit foolishness. That is what comes naturally when discernment is not pursued. Gullibility becomes settled folly because what is unguarded is easily shaped by error.
The sensible, however, are crowned with knowledge. Knowledge here is a kind of honor and adornment. It beautifies life with understanding. Wisdom becomes visible dignity. This is the better inheritance: not mere information, but knowledge that rests upon the head like a crown.
