Em Provérbios 10:31, Salomão escreve: A boca do justo produz sabedoria, mas a língua perversa será decepada (v. 31). Mais uma vez, Salomão mostra que a fala revela a condição do coração. Os justos, naturalmente, falam de maneira verdadeira e sábia.
A palavra produz sugere abundância e continuidade. A sabedoria não é extraída da pessoa justa apenas em raros momentos. Porque a sabedoria moldou a vida interior, ela se manifesta de forma regular e apropriada e a fala torna-se o transbordamento de um coração corretamente ordenado.
A língua perversa, porém, profere coisas distorcidas, falsas ou corruptas. Salomão diz que ela será decepada, o que é uma forte imagem de julgamento, Deus leva as palavras a sério porque elas têm poder moral. A fala que continuamente distorce a verdade não terá a palavra final.
