Em Provérbios 11:21, Salomão escreve: Com certeza o homem mau não escapará ao castigo; mas a descendência dos justos será livre (v. 21). Este provérbio afirma a certeza da responsabilidade moral. O mal pode parecer escapar à justiça por um tempo, mas não escapa a Deus.
A palavra "certeza" enfatiza a mensagem. Salomão quer que o leitor saiba que a maldade não está definitivamente além de qualquer punição. A ordem moral de Deus é real, mesmo que seu tempo não seja imediato. Essa certeza visa fortalecer a fé diante da aparente injustiça.
A libertação dos descendentes dos justos aponta para a bênção geracional que frequentemente emana da retidão. A sabedoria não garante uma vida fácil para todos os filhos de pais justos, mas muitas vezes cria um legado de proteção, estabilidade e graça que se estende para além do indivíduo.
