O paradoxo apresentado em Provérbios 11:24 por Salomão destaca que Um dá liberalmente, e se lhe acrescenta mais e mais; outro poupa mais do que é justo, mas se empobrece (v. 24). Este provérbio subverte pressupostos mundanos. Revela que a generosidade muitas vezes produz abundância, enquanto a retenção egoísta produz escassez.
Aquele que dá, dá livremente, e ainda assim aumenta ainda mais. Salomão está mostrando que a economia de Deus é mais profunda do que mera acumulação. A generosidade mantém a pessoa alinhada com a confiança, a abertura de mãos e o fluxo de bênçãos.
Aquele que retém o que é devido por justiça pode parecer prudente, mas isso resulta apenas em privação. A ganância diminui a alma e muitas vezes prejudica os próprios relacionamentos e padrões pelos quais a provisão acontece. Jesus fala de maneira paradoxal semelhante quando ensina que aquele que perder a sua vida por causa dele a encontrará (Mateus 16:25).
