Depois de ser informado de que ela era a filha de Noemi, Boaz faz a conexão. Obviamente, ele também ouviu as notícias. Ele disse a Rute: Ouve, minha filha. Boaz compreende que ela é uma parente e a trata com carinho, chamando-a de filha. Boaz a convida a ficar em seu campo, onde oferece a ela proteção especial e provisão, dizendo: Não dei eu ordem aos moços que não te molestem? quando tiveres sede, vai aos vasos e bebe do que os moços tiverem tirado.
Rute reage com grande gratidão. Ela, prostrando-se e inclinando-se com o rosto em terra. Parece que Rute quer garantir que Boaz saiba toda a história, já que ela inclui a informação de que é estrangeira. Boaz assegura a Rute que não é desencorajado por sua nacionalidade. Ele ouviu falar de seu serviço à sua parente Noemi. Boaz diz a Rute: Tem-se-me contado tudo o que tens feito a tua sogra, depois da morte de teu marido.
Boaz então expressa uma oração, para a qual ele já se tornou em parte uma resposta, dizendo: Jeová te dê o galardão do que fizeste, e te seja concedida plena recompensa da parte de Jeová, Deus de Israel, debaixo de cujas asas vieste buscar refúgio. Novamente, Rute expressa gratidão.
