Robert M. Bowman, Jr., has been with Institute for Religious Research (IRR) since 2008 and is IRR’s Director of Research. He graduated with a B.A. from California State University, Dominguez Hills (1978) and also obtained a Master's degree in Biblical Studies and Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary (1981). As an accomplished author he has written many books and articles pertaining to apologetics, cults, and theology. In the 1980s he was a researcher working with the late Walter Martin at the Christian Research Institute (CRI). Since then he has worked with a number of apologetics ministries, including the Atlanta Christian Apologetics Project, Watchman Fellowship, and Rob is currently an instructor in the M.A. in Christian Apologetics program at Biola University, where he teaches courses on religious cults and on biblical apologetics. Rob is also well known from Christian radio, having been a regular on the nationally syndicated "Bible Answer Man" program (1990-91) and the host of "Truth Talk" in Atlanta (1994-96) and the " Radio Show" in Los Angeles (2002-2003). Rob and his wife Cathy have been married since 1981 and have four children: Beth, Robbie, John, and Maria.

The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
