Don Stewart :: Can a Person Do Anything If They Have Enough Faith?

Don Stewart
There are some people who teach that a person can do anything if they have enough faith? Jesus said,

He replied, Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you (Matthew 17:20).

Greater Things

He also promised that we would do greater works greater works we shall do then He did.

I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in Me will do what I have been doing. They will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father (John 14:12).

In what sense are they greater? The greater works would not be quality but in quantity. No one could do greater works than Jesus. However, He was limited to being in one place at a time. Now His people, the church, can do the work of God literally around the world. In that sense we can do greater works.

According To His Will

Faith is not a magic formula. God honors our acts of faith as long as it conforms to His will and plan. The goal is that God may be glorified.

And this is the boldness we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have obtained the requests made of Him (1 John 5:14,15).

Summary

All things are possible for a believer who exercises faith but these all things need to be qualified. Not everything is possible for a believer if they exercise enough faith.
