Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:1 - God said to Ya`akov, "Arise, go up to Beit-El, and live there. Make there an altar to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esav your brother."
Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:2 - Then Ya`akov said to his household, and to all who were with him, "Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, change your garments.
Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:3 - Let us arise, and go up to Beit-El. I will make there an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went."
Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:4 - They gave to Ya`akov all the foreign gods which were in their hands, and the rings which were in their ears; and Ya`akov hid them under the oak which was by Shekhem.
Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:5 - They traveled: and a terror of God was on the cities that were round about them, and they didn't pursue the sons of Ya`akov.

Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:8 - Devorah, Rivka's nurse, died, and she was buried below Beit-El under the oak; and the name of it was called Allon-Bakhut.

Jacob Is Named Israel

Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:9 - God appeared to Ya`akov again, when he came from Paddan-Aram, and blessed him.
Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:10 - God said to him, "Your name is Ya`akov. Your name shall not be Ya`akov any more, but your name will be Yisra'el." He named him Yisra'el.
Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:11 - God said to him, "I am El Shaddai. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations will be from you, and kings will come out of your loins.
Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:12 - The land which I gave to Avraham and Yitzchak, I will give it to you, and to your seed after you will I give the land."

Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:14 - Ya`akov set up a pillar in the place where he spoke with him, a pillar of stone. He poured out a drink-offering on it, and poured oil on it.

Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:16 - They traveled from Beit-El. There was still some distance to come to Efrat, and Rachel travailed. She had hard labor.

The Sons of Israel

Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:23 - The sons of Le'ah: Re'uven (Ya`akov's firstborn), Shim`on, Levi, Yehudah, Yissakhar, and Zevulun.
Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:24 - The sons of Rachel: Yosef and Binyamin.
Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:25 - The sons of Bilhah (Rachel's handmaid): Dan and Naftali.
Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:26 - The sons of Zilpah (Le'ah's handmaid): Gad and Asher. These are the sons of Ya`akov, who were born to him in Paddan-Aram.
Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:27 - Ya`akov came to Yitzchak his father, to Mamre, to Kiryat-Arba (the same is Hevron), where Avraham and Yitzchak lived as foreigners.
Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:28 - The days of Yitzchak were one hundred eighty years.
Unchecked Copy BoxGen 35:29 - Yitzchak gave up the spirit, and died, and was gathered to his people, old and full of days. Esav and Ya`akov, his sons, buried him.
