Educated at St. Mary Hall, Oxford, England (B.A. 1866), Evans took Holy Orders in 1864. He was successively curate of Slough, New Windsor, and Walmer; Organising Secretary to the S.P.G.; Secretary to the South American Missionary Society; Assistant Examiner to the Civil Service Commissioners; and rector of Kirk-Hallam, Ilkston (1875). His works include:

  • The Fourfold Message of Advent, 1870
  • The Pride of the Village (London: Christian Knowledge Society, 1884)
  • Second Sight (London: Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, 1893)
