Jemima was the daughter of Thomas Thompson, a founder of the British and Foreign Sailors’ Society. She began writing early, being first published in the Juvenile Magazine when she was 13. She married Congregational minister Samuel Luke when she was 20 years old. From 1841 to 1845, she edited The Missionary Repository. Her works include:
