Born: May 21, 1813, Edinburgh, Scotland.

Died: March 25, 1843, Dundee, Scotland.

Robert Murray McCheyne (1813-1843)

Son of Adam McCheyne, Robert was educated at Edinburgh University. In 1835, he became Assistant at Lambert (near Stirling). In 1836, he was ordained Minister of St. Peter’s Established Church in Dundee. In 1839, he went to Palestine as one of the Mission of Enquiry to the Jews from the Church of Scotland. His hymns, a few of which he wrote in Palestine, appeared posthumously in:

  • Songs of Zion to Cheer and Guide Pilgrims on Their Way to the New Jerusalem (Dundee, Scotland; W. Middleton, 1843)
