Arthur Penrhyn Stanley (1815-1881) Born: December 13, 1815, Alderley, Cheshire, England.

Died: July 18, 1881, the Deanery, Westminster, England.

Buried: At Henry VII’s chapel in Westminster.

Stanley attended Rugby and Balliol College, Oxford. He served as Regius Professor of Ecclesiastical History and Canon of Christ Church, Oxford (1856-1864), and as Dean of Westminster (1864-1881). His works include:

  • Life and Correspondence of Dr. Arnold, 1844
  • Historical Memorials of Westminster Abbey (London, England: John Murray, 1876)
  • Historical Memorials of Canterbury
