Born: 1826, London, England.
Steggall attended, and later became a professor at, the Royal Academy of Music. He served as organist at Lincoln’s from 1864 until his death. He composed many hymn tunes, and edited Church Psalmody (1849) and Hymns for the Church of England (1865).
