LXX Concordance for ἔπεσαν

The Levites did as Moses commanded, and about three thousand men fell dead that day among the people.

Fire came from the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell facedown.

But Moses and Aaron fell facedown and said, “God, God who gives breath to all,[fn] when one man sins, will you vent your wrath on the whole community? ”

Then Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the doorway of the tent of meeting. They fell facedown, and the glory of the LORD appeared to them.

they told him, “Please say Shibboleth.” If he said, “Sibboleth,” because he could not pronounce it correctly, they seized him and executed him at the fords of the Jordan. At that time forty-two thousand from Ephraim died.

There were eighteen thousand men who died from Benjamin; all were warriors.

So the Philistines fought, and Israel was defeated, and each man fled to his tent. The slaughter was severe ​— ​thirty thousand of the Israelite foot soldiers fell.

The men of Israel and Judah rallied, shouting their battle cry, and chased the Philistines to the entrance of the valley and to the gates of Ekron.[fn] Philistine bodies were strewn all along the Shaaraim road to Gath and Ekron.

The splendor of Israel lies slain on your heights.

and the weapons of war have perished!

Then the men of the city came out and attacked Joab, and some of the men from David's soldiers fell in battle; Uriah the Hethite also died.

and handed them over to the Gibeonites. They hanged[fn] them on the hill in the presence of the LORD; the seven of them died together. They were executed in the first days of the harvest at the beginning of the barley harvest.[fn]

These four were descended from the giant in Gath and were killed by David and his soldiers.

Then Jehoshaphat knelt low with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the LORD to worship him.

They collapse and fall,

but we rise and stand firm.

When evildoers came against me to devour my flesh,

my foes and my enemies stumbled and fell.

His priests fell by the sword,

and the widows could not lament.

The nations have heard of your dishonor,

and your cries fill the earth,

because warrior stumbles against warrior

and together both of them have fallen.

Raise a war cry against her on every side!

She has thrown up her hands in surrender;

her defense towers have fallen;

her walls are demolished.

Since this is the LORD's vengeance,

take your vengeance on her;

as she has done, do the same to her.

“Foreigners, ruthless men from the nations, cut it down and left it lying. Its limbs fell on the mountains and in every valley; its boughs lay broken in all the earth's ravines. All the peoples of the earth left its shade and abandoned it.

“And the nations will know that the house of Israel went into exile on account of their iniquity, because they dealt unfaithfully with me. Therefore, I hid my face from them and handed them over to their enemies, so that they all fell by the sword.

All of them are as hot as an oven,

and they consume their rulers.

All their kings fall;

not one of them calls on me.[fn]
