Unchecked Copy BoxLev 19:9 - “When you harvest the crops of your land, do not harvest the grain along the edges of your fields, and do not pick up what the harvesters drop.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 19:10 - It is the same with your grape crop—do not strip every last bunch of grapes from the vines, and do not pick up the grapes that fall to the ground. Leave them for the poor and the foreigners living among you. I am the LORD your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 19:12 - “Do not bring shame on the name of your God by using it to swear falsely. I am the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 19:14 - “Do not insult the deaf or cause the blind to stumble. You must fear your God; I am the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 19:16 - “Do not spread slanderous gossip among your people.[fn]
“Do not stand idly by when your neighbor's life is threatened. I am the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 19:23 - “When you enter the land and plant fruit trees, leave the fruit unharvested for the first three years and consider it forbidden.[fn] Do not eat it.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 19:25 - Finally, in the fifth year you may eat the fruit. If you follow this pattern, your harvest will increase. I am the LORD your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 19:27 - “Do not trim off the hair on your temples or trim your beards.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 19:28 - “Do not cut your bodies for the dead, and do not mark your skin with tattoos. I am the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 19:31 - “Do not defile yourselves by turning to mediums or to those who consult the spirits of the dead. I am the LORD your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 19:32 - “Stand up in the presence of the elderly, and show respect for the aged. Fear your God. I am the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 19:33 - “Do not take advantage of foreigners who live among you in your land.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 19:34 - Treat them like native-born Israelites, and love them as you love yourself. Remember that you were once foreigners living in the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 19:36 - Your scales and weights must be accurate. Your containers for measuring dry materials or liquids must be accurate.[fn] I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 19:37 - “You must be careful to keep all of my decrees and regulations by putting them into practice. I am the LORD.”
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 20:7 - So set yourselves apart to be holy, for I am the LORD your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 20:23 - Do not live according to the customs of the people I am driving out before you. It is because they do these shameful things that I detest them.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 20:24 - But I have promised you, ‘You will possess their land because I will give it to you as your possession—a land flowing with milk and honey.' I am the LORD your God, who has set you apart from all other people.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 20:25 - “You must therefore make a distinction between ceremonially clean and unclean animals, and between clean and unclean birds. You must not defile yourselves by eating any unclean animal or bird or creature that scurries along the ground. I have identified them as being unclean for you.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 20:26 - You must be holy because I, the LORD, am holy. I have set you apart from all other people to be my very own.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 21:8 - You must treat them as holy because they offer up food to your God. You must consider them holy because I, the LORD, am holy, and I make you holy.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 21:17 - “Give the following instructions to Aaron: In all future generations, none of your descendants who has any defect will qualify to offer food to his God.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 22:3 - Give them the following instructions.
“In all future generations, if any of your descendants is ceremonially unclean when he approaches the sacred offerings that the people of Israel consecrate to the LORD, he must be cut off from my presence. I am the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 22:21 - “If you present a peace offering to the LORD from the herd or the flock, whether it is to fulfill a vow or is a voluntary offering, you must offer a perfect animal. It may have no defect of any kind.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 22:24 - If an animal has damaged testicles or is castrated, you may not offer it to the LORD. You must never do this in your own land,
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 22:25 - and you must not accept such an animal from foreigners and then offer it as a sacrifice to your God. Such animals will not be accepted on your behalf, for they are mutilated or defective.”
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 22:33 - It was I who rescued you from the land of Egypt, that I might be your God. I am the LORD.”
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 23:3 - “You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of complete rest, an official day for holy assembly. It is the LORD's Sabbath day, and it must be observed wherever you live.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 23:10 - “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. When you enter the land I am giving you and you harvest its first crops, bring the priest a bundle of grain from the first cutting of your grain harvest.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 23:14 - Do not eat any bread or roasted grain or fresh kernels on that day until you bring this offering to your God. This is a permanent law for you, and it must be observed from generation to generation wherever you live.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 23:17 - From wherever you live, bring two loaves of bread to be lifted up before the LORD as a special offering. Make these loaves from four quarts of choice flour, and bake them with yeast. They will be an offering to the LORD from the first of your crops.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 23:21 - That same day will be proclaimed an official day for holy assembly, a day on which you do no ordinary work. This is a permanent law for you, and it must be observed from generation to generation wherever you live.[fn]
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 23:22 - “When you harvest the crops of your land, do not harvest the grain along the edges of your fields, and do not pick up what the harvesters drop. Leave it for the poor and the foreigners living among you. I am the LORD your God.”
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 23:27 - “Be careful to celebrate the Day of Atonement on the tenth day of that same month—nine days after the Festival of Trumpets.[fn] You must observe it as an official day for holy assembly, a day to deny yourselves[fn] and present special gifts to the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 23:28 - Do no work during that entire day because it is the Day of Atonement, when offerings of purification are made for you, making you right with[fn] the LORD your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 23:31 - You must not do any work at all! This is a permanent law for you, and it must be observed from generation to generation wherever you live.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 23:32 - This will be a Sabbath day of complete rest for you, and on that day you must deny yourselves. This day of rest will begin at sundown on the ninth day of the month and extend until sundown on the tenth day.”
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 23:38 - These festivals must be observed in addition to the LORD's regular Sabbath days, and the offerings are in addition to your personal gifts, the offerings you give to fulfill your vows, and the voluntary offerings you present to the LORD.)
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 23:40 - On the first day gather branches from magnificent trees[fn]—palm fronds, boughs from leafy trees, and willows that grow by the streams. Then celebrate with joy before the LORD your God for seven days.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 23:41 - You must observe this festival to the LORD for seven days every year. This is a permanent law for you, and it must be observed in the appointed month[fn] from generation to generation.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 23:43 - This will remind each new generation of Israelites that I made their ancestors live in shelters when I rescued them from the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.”
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 24:3 - This is the lampstand that stands in the Tabernacle, in front of the inner curtain that shields the Ark of the Covenant.[fn] Aaron must keep the lamps burning in the LORD's presence all night. This is a permanent law for you, and it must be observed from generation to generation.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 24:22 - “This same standard applies both to native-born Israelites and to the foreigners living among you. I am the LORD your God.”
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 25:9 - Then on the Day of Atonement in the fiftieth year,[fn] blow the ram's horn loud and long throughout the land.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 25:17 - Show your fear of God by not taking advantage of each other. I am the LORD your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 25:24 - “With every purchase of land you must grant the seller the right to buy it back.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 25:38 - I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 25:45 - You may also purchase the children of temporary residents who live among you, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property,
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 25:46 - passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat them as slaves, but you must never treat your fellow Israelites this way.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 25:55 - For the people of Israel belong to me. They are my servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:1 - “Do not make idols or set up carved images, or sacred pillars, or sculptured stones in your land so you may worship them. I am the LORD your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:5 - Your threshing season will overlap with the grape harvest, and your grape harvest will overlap with the season of planting grain. You will eat your fill and live securely in your own land.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:6 - “I will give you peace in the land, and you will be able to sleep with no cause for fear. I will rid the land of wild animals and keep your enemies out of your land.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:7 - In fact, you will chase down your enemies and slaughter them with your swords.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:8 - Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand! All your enemies will fall beneath your sword.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:9 - “I will look favorably upon you, making you fertile and multiplying your people. And I will fulfill my covenant with you.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:12 - I will walk among you; I will be your God, and you will be my people.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:13 - I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt so you would no longer be their slaves. I broke the yoke of slavery from your neck so you can walk with your heads held high.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:15 - and if you break my covenant by rejecting my decrees, treating my regulations with contempt, and refusing to obey my commands,
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:16 - I will punish you. I will bring sudden terrors upon you—wasting diseases and burning fevers that will cause your eyes to fail and your life to ebb away. You will plant your crops in vain because your enemies will eat them.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:17 - I will turn against you, and you will be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you will rule over you, and you will run even when no one is chasing you!
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:18 - “And if, in spite of all this, you still disobey me, I will punish you seven times over for your sins.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:19 - I will break your proud spirit by making the skies as unyielding as iron and the earth as hard as bronze.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:20 - All your work will be for nothing, for your land will yield no crops, and your trees will bear no fruit.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:21 - “If even then you remain hostile toward me and refuse to obey me, I will inflict disaster on you seven times over for your sins.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:22 - I will send wild animals that will rob you of your children and destroy your livestock. Your numbers will dwindle, and your roads will be deserted.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:24 - then I myself will be hostile toward you. I will personally strike you with calamity seven times over for your sins.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:25 - I will send armies against you to carry out the curse of the covenant you have broken. When you run to your towns for safety, I will send a plague to destroy you there, and you will be handed over to your enemies.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:26 - I will destroy your food supply, so that ten women will need only one oven to bake bread for their families. They will ration your food by weight, and though you have food to eat, you will not be satisfied.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:28 - then I will give full vent to my hostility. I myself will punish you seven times over for your sins.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:29 - Then you will eat the flesh of your own sons and daughters.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:30 - I will destroy your pagan shrines and knock down your places of worship. I will leave your lifeless corpses piled on top of your lifeless idols,[fn] and I will despise you.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:31 - I will make your cities desolate and destroy your places of pagan worship. I will take no pleasure in your offerings that should be a pleasing aroma to me.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:32 - Yes, I myself will devastate your land, and your enemies who come to occupy it will be appalled at what they see.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:33 - I will scatter you among the nations and bring out my sword against you. Your land will become desolate, and your cities will lie in ruins.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:34 - Then at last the land will enjoy its neglected Sabbath years as it lies desolate while you are in exile in the land of your enemies. Then the land will finally rest and enjoy the Sabbaths it missed.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:35 - As long as the land lies in ruins, it will enjoy the rest you never allowed it to take every seventh year while you lived in it.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:36 - “And for those of you who survive, I will demoralize you in the land of your enemies. You will live in such fear that the sound of a leaf driven by the wind will send you fleeing. You will run as though fleeing from a sword, and you will fall even when no one pursues you.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:37 - Though no one is chasing you, you will stumble over each other as though fleeing from a sword. You will have no power to stand up against your enemies.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:38 - You will die among the foreign nations and be devoured in the land of your enemies.
Unchecked Copy BoxLev 26:39 - Those of you who survive will waste away in your enemies' lands because of their sins and the sins of their ancestors.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 1:4 - and you will be assisted by one family leader from each tribe.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 1:5 - “These are the tribes and the names of the leaders who will assist you:
TribeLeader
ReubenElizur son of Shedeur
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 9:8 - Moses answered, “Wait here until I have received instructions for you from the LORD.”
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 9:10 - “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel: If any of the people now or in future generations are ceremonially unclean at Passover time because of touching a dead body, or if they are on a journey and cannot be present at the ceremony, they may still celebrate the LORD's Passover.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 9:14 - And if foreigners living among you want to celebrate the Passover to the LORD, they must follow these same decrees and regulations. The same laws apply both to native-born Israelites and to the foreigners living among you.”
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 10:8 - Only the priests, Aaron's descendants, are allowed to blow the trumpets. This is a permanent law for you, to be observed from generation to generation.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 10:9 - “When you arrive in your own land and go to war against your enemies who attack you, sound the alarm with the trumpets. Then the LORD your God will remember you and rescue you from your enemies.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 10:10 - Blow the trumpets in times of gladness, too, sounding them at your annual festivals and at the beginning of each month. And blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and peace offerings. The trumpets will remind the LORD your God of his covenant with you. I am the LORD your God.”
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 11:20 - You will eat it for a whole month until you gag and are sick of it. For you have rejected the LORD, who is here among you, and you have whined to him, saying, “Why did we ever leave Egypt?”'”
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 12:6 - And the LORD said to them, “Now listen to what I say:
“If there were prophets among you,
I, the LORD, would reveal myself in visions.
I would speak to them in dreams.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 14:27 - “How long must I put up with this wicked community and its complaints about me? Yes, I have heard the complaints the Israelites are making against me.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 14:29 - You will all drop dead in this wilderness! Because you complained against me, every one of you who is twenty years old or older and was included in the registration will die.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 14:32 - But as for you, you will drop dead in this wilderness.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 14:33 - And your children will be like shepherds, wandering in the wilderness for forty years. In this way, they will pay for your faithlessness, until the last of you lies dead in the wilderness.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 14:34 - “‘Because your men explored the land for forty days, you must wander in the wilderness for forty years—a year for each day, suffering the consequences of your sins. Then you will discover what it is like to have me for an enemy.'
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 14:42 - Do not go up into the land now. You will only be crushed by your enemies because the LORD is not with you.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 14:43 - When you face the Amalekites and Canaanites in battle, you will be slaughtered. The LORD will abandon you because you have abandoned the LORD.”
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 15:2 - “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel.
“When you finally settle in the land I am giving you,
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 15:3 - you will offer special gifts as a pleasing aroma to the LORD. These gifts may take the form of a burnt offering, a sacrifice to fulfill a vow, a voluntary offering, or an offering at any of your annual festivals, and they may be taken from your herds of cattle or your flocks of sheep and goats.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 15:14 - And if any foreigners visit you or live among you and want to present a special gift as a pleasing aroma to the LORD, they must follow these same procedures.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 15:15 - Native-born Israelites and foreigners are equal before the LORD and are subject to the same decrees. This is a permanent law for you, to be observed from generation to generation.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 15:20 - Present a cake from the first of the flour you grind, and set it aside as a sacred offering, as you do with the first grain from the threshing floor.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 15:21 - Throughout the generations to come, you are to present a sacred offering to the LORD each year from the first of your ground flour.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 15:23 - And suppose your descendants in the future fail to do everything the LORD has commanded through Moses.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 15:39 - When you see the tassels, you will remember and obey all the commands of the LORD instead of following your own desires and defiling yourselves, as you are prone to do.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 15:40 - The tassels will help you remember that you must obey all my commands and be holy to your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 15:41 - I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt that I might be your God. I am the LORD your God!”
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 18:1 - Then the LORD said to Aaron: “You, your sons, and your relatives from the tribe of Levi will be held responsible for any offenses related to the sanctuary. But you and your sons alone will be held responsible for violations connected with the priesthood.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 18:6 - I myself have chosen your fellow Levites from among the Israelites to be your special assistants. They are a gift to you, dedicated to the LORD for service in the Tabernacle.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 18:7 - But you and your sons, the priests, must personally handle all the priestly rituals associated with the altar and with everything behind the inner curtain. I am giving you the priesthood as your special privilege of service. Any unauthorized person who comes too near the sanctuary will be put to death.”
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 18:27 - The LORD will consider this offering to be your harvest offering, as though it were the first grain from your own threshing floor or wine from your own winepress.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 18:28 - You must present one-tenth of the tithe received from the Israelites as a sacred offering to the LORD. This is the LORD's sacred portion, and you must present it to Aaron the priest.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 18:29 - Be sure to give to the LORD the best portions of the gifts given to you.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 18:31 - You Levites and your families may eat this food anywhere you wish, for it is your compensation for serving in the Tabernacle.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 22:13 - The next morning Balaam got up and told Balak's officials, “Go on home! The LORD will not let me go with you.”
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 28:22 - You must also offer a male goat as a sin offering to purify yourselves and make yourselves right with the LORD.[fn]
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 28:30 - Also, offer one male goat to purify yourselves and make yourselves right with the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 29:5 - In addition, you must sacrifice a male goat as a sin offering to purify yourselves and make yourselves right with the LORD.[fn]
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 29:7 - “Ten days later, on the tenth day of the same month,[fn] you must call another holy assembly. On that day, the Day of Atonement, the people must go without food and must do no ordinary work.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 29:11 - You must also sacrifice one male goat for a sin offering. This is in addition to the sin offering of atonement and the regular daily burnt offering with its grain offering, and their accompanying liquid offerings.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 29:39 - “You must present these offerings to the LORD at your annual festivals. These are in addition to the sacrifices and offerings you present in connection with vows, or as voluntary offerings, burnt offerings, grain offerings, liquid offerings, or peace offerings.”
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 31:3 - So Moses said to the people, “Choose some men, and arm them to fight the LORD's war of revenge against Midian.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 31:19 - And all of you who have killed anyone or touched a dead body must stay outside the camp for seven days. You must purify yourselves and your captives on the third and seventh days.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 32:6 - “Do you intend to stay here while your brothers go across and do all the fighting?” Moses asked the men of Gad and Reuben.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 32:8 - Your ancestors did the same thing when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to explore the land.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 32:14 - But here you are, a brood of sinners, doing exactly the same thing! You are making the LORD even angrier with Israel.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 32:21 - and if your troops cross the Jordan and keep fighting until the LORD has driven out his enemies,
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 32:23 - But if you fail to keep your word, then you will have sinned against the LORD, and you may be sure that your sin will find you out.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 32:24 - Go ahead and build towns for your families and pens for your flocks, but do everything you have promised.”
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 32:29 - He said, “The men of Gad and Reuben who are armed for battle must cross the Jordan with you to fight for the LORD. If they do, give them the land of Gilead as their property when the land is conquered.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 32:30 - But if they refuse to arm themselves and cross over with you, then they must accept land with the rest of you in the land of Canaan.”
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 33:52 - you must drive out all the people living there. You must destroy all their carved and molten images and demolish all their pagan shrines.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 33:54 - You must distribute the land among the clans by sacred lot and in proportion to their size. A larger portion of land will be allotted to each of the larger clans, and a smaller portion will be allotted to each of the smaller clans. The decision of the sacred lot is final. In this way, the portions of land will be divided among your ancestral tribes.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 33:55 - But if you fail to drive out the people who live in the land, those who remain will be like splinters in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will harass you in the land where you live.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 35:29 - These are legal requirements for you to observe from generation to generation, wherever you may live.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:8 - Look, I am giving all this land to you! Go in and occupy it, for it is the land the LORD swore to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to all their descendants.'”
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:10 - The LORD your God has increased your population, making you as numerous as the stars!
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:11 - And may the LORD, the God of your ancestors, multiply you a thousand times more and bless you as he promised!
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:12 - But you are such a heavy load to carry! How can I deal with all your problems and bickering?
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:13 - Choose some well-respected men from each tribe who are known for their wisdom and understanding, and I will appoint them as your leaders.'
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:15 - So I took the wise and respected men you had selected from your tribes and appointed them to serve as judges and officials over you. Some were responsible for a thousand people, some for a hundred, some for fifty, and some for ten.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:16 - “At that time I instructed the judges, ‘You must hear the cases of your fellow Israelites and the foreigners living among you. Be perfectly fair in your decisions
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:17 - and impartial in your judgments. Hear the cases of those who are poor as well as those who are rich. Don't be afraid of anyone's anger, for the decision you make is God's decision. Bring me any cases that are too difficult for you, and I will handle them.'
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:21 - Look! He has placed the land in front of you. Go and occupy it as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, has promised you. Don't be afraid! Don't be discouraged!'
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:23 - “This seemed like a good idea to me, so I chose twelve scouts, one from each of your tribes.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:26 - “But you rebelled against the command of the LORD your God and refused to go in.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:27 - You complained in your tents and said, ‘The LORD must hate us. That's why he has brought us here from Egypt—to hand us over to the Amorites to be slaughtered.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:28 - Where can we go? Our brothers have demoralized us with their report. They tell us, “The people of the land are taller and more powerful than we are, and their towns are large, with walls rising high into the sky! We even saw giants there—the descendants of Anak!”'
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:30 - The LORD your God is going ahead of you. He will fight for you, just as you saw him do in Egypt.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:32 - “But even after all he did, you refused to trust the LORD your God,
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:33 - who goes before you looking for the best places to camp, guiding you with a pillar of fire by night and a pillar of cloud by day.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:34 - “When the LORD heard your complaining, he became very angry. So he solemnly swore,
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:42 - “But the LORD told me to tell you, ‘Do not attack, for I am not with you. If you go ahead on your own, you will be crushed by your enemies.'
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 1:45 - Then you returned and wept before the LORD, but he refused to listen.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 2:4 - Give these orders to the people: “You will pass through the country belonging to your relatives the Edomites, the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. The Edomites will feel threatened, so be careful.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 2:21 - They were also as strong and numerous and tall as the Anakites. But the LORD destroyed them so the Ammonites could occupy their land.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 3:18 - “At that time I gave this command to the tribes that would live east of the Jordan: ‘Although the LORD your God has given you this land as your property, all your fighting men must cross the Jordan ahead of your Israelite relatives, armed and ready to assist them.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 3:19 - Your wives, children, and numerous livestock, however, may stay behind in the towns I have given you.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 3:20 - When the LORD has given security to the rest of the Israelites, as he has to you, and when they occupy the land the LORD your God is giving them across the Jordan River, then you may all return here to the land I have given you.'
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 3:21 - “At that time I gave Joshua this charge: ‘You have seen for yourself everything the LORD your God has done to these two kings. He will do the same to all the kingdoms on the west side of the Jordan.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 3:22 - Do not be afraid of the nations there, for the LORD your God will fight for you.'
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 3:26 - “But the LORD was angry with me because of you, and he would not listen to me. ‘That's enough!' he declared. ‘Speak of it no more.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 4:1 - “And now, Israel, listen carefully to these decrees and regulations that I am about to teach you. Obey them so that you may live, so you may enter and occupy the land that the LORD, the God of your ancestors, is giving you.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 4:2 - Do not add to or subtract from these commands I am giving you. Just obey the commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 4:3 - “You saw for yourself what the LORD did to you at Baal-peor. There the LORD your God destroyed everyone who had worshiped Baal, the god of Peor.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 4:4 - But all of you who were faithful to the LORD your God are still alive today—every one of you.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 4:6 - Obey them completely, and you will display your wisdom and intelligence among the surrounding nations. When they hear all these decrees, they will exclaim, ‘How wise and prudent are the people of this great nation!'
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 4:8 - And what great nation has decrees and regulations as righteous and fair as this body of instructions that I am giving you today?
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 4:10 - Never forget the day when you stood before the LORD your God at Mount Sinai,[fn] where he told me, ‘Summon the people before me, and I will personally instruct them. Then they will learn to fear me as long as they live, and they will teach their children to fear me also.'
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 4:15 - “But be very careful! You did not see the LORD's form on the day he spoke to you from the heart of the fire at Mount Sinai.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 4:21 - “But the LORD was angry with me because of you. He vowed that I would not cross the Jordan River into the good land the LORD your God is giving you as your special possession.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 4:23 - So be careful not to break the covenant the LORD your God has made with you. Do not make idols of any shape or form, for the LORD your God has forbidden this.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 4:25 - “In the future, when you have children and grandchildren and have lived in the land a long time, do not corrupt yourselves by making idols of any kind. This is evil in the sight of the LORD your God and will arouse his anger.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 4:29 - But from there you will search again for the LORD your God. And if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 5:1 - Moses called all the people of Israel together and said, “Listen carefully, Israel. Hear the decrees and regulations I am giving you today, so you may learn them and obey them!
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 5:2 - “The LORD our God made a covenant with us at Mount Sinai.[fn]
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 5:3 - The LORD did not make this covenant with our ancestors, but with all of us who are alive today.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 5:5 - I stood as an intermediary between you and the LORD, for you were afraid of the fire and did not want to approach the mountain. He spoke to me, and I passed his words on to you. This is what he said:
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 5:22 - “The LORD spoke these words to all of you assembled there at the foot of the mountain. He spoke with a loud voice from the heart of the fire, surrounded by clouds and deep darkness. This was all he said at that time, and he wrote his words on two stone tablets and gave them to me.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 5:23 - “But when you heard the voice from the heart of the darkness, while the mountain was blazing with fire, all your tribal leaders and elders came to me.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 5:28 - “The LORD heard the request you made to me. And he said, ‘I have heard what the people said to you, and they are right.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 5:30 - Go and tell them, “Return to your tents.”
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 6:2 - and you and your children and grandchildren must fear the LORD your God as long as you live. If you obey all his decrees and commands, you will enjoy a long life.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 6:9 - Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 6:14 - “You must not worship any of the gods of neighboring nations,
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 6:18 - Do what is right and good in the LORD's sight, so all will go well with you. Then you will enter and occupy the good land that the LORD swore to give your ancestors.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 7:1 - “When the LORD your God brings you into the land you are about to enter and occupy, he will clear away many nations ahead of you: the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. These seven nations are greater and more numerous than you.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 7:8 - Rather, it was simply that the LORD loves you, and he was keeping the oath he had sworn to your ancestors. That is why the LORD rescued you with such a strong hand from your slavery and from the oppressive hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 7:12 - “If you listen to these regulations and faithfully obey them, the LORD your God will keep his covenant of unfailing love with you, as he promised with an oath to your ancestors.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 7:24 - He will put their kings in your power, and you will erase their names from the face of the earth. No one will be able to stand against you, and you will destroy them all.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 8:1 - “Be careful to obey all the commands I am giving you today. Then you will live and multiply, and you will enter and occupy the land the LORD swore to give your ancestors.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 8:20 - Just as the LORD has destroyed other nations in your path, you also will be destroyed if you refuse to obey the LORD your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 9:5 - It is not because you are so good or have such integrity that you are about to occupy their land. The LORD your God will drive these nations out ahead of you only because of their wickedness, and to fulfill the oath he swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 9:16 - There below me I could see that you had sinned against the LORD your God. You had melted gold and made a calf idol for yourselves. How quickly you had turned away from the path the LORD had commanded you to follow!
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 9:17 - So I took the stone tablets and threw them to the ground, smashing them before your eyes.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 9:18 - “Then, as before, I threw myself down before the LORD for forty days and nights. I ate no bread and drank no water because of the great sin you had committed by doing what the LORD hated, provoking him to anger.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 9:21 - I took your sin—the calf you had made—and I melted it down in the fire and ground it into fine dust. Then I threw the dust into the stream that flows down the mountain.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 9:22 - “You also made the LORD angry at Taberah,[fn] Massah,[fn] and Kibroth-hattaavah.[fn]
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 9:23 - And at Kadesh-barnea the LORD sent you out with this command: ‘Go up and take over the land I have given you.' But you rebelled against the command of the LORD your God and refused to put your trust in him or obey him.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 10:15 - Yet the LORD chose your ancestors as the objects of his love. And he chose you, their descendants, above all other nations, as is evident today.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 10:16 - Therefore, change your hearts[fn] and stop being stubborn.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 10:17 - “For the LORD your God is the God of gods and Lord of lords. He is the great God, the mighty and awesome God, who shows no partiality and cannot be bribed.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 11:2 - Keep in mind that I am not talking now to your children, who have never experienced the discipline of the LORD your God or seen his greatness and his strong hand and powerful arm.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 11:4 - They didn't see what the LORD did to the armies of Egypt and to their horses and chariots—how he drowned them in the Red Sea[fn] as they were chasing you. He destroyed them, and they have not recovered to this very day!
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 11:7 - But you have seen the LORD perform all these mighty deeds with your own eyes!
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 11:9 - If you obey, you will enjoy a long life in the land the LORD swore to give to your ancestors and to you, their descendants—a land flowing with milk and honey!
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 11:18 - “So commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these words of mine. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 11:19 - Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 11:20 - Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 11:21 - so that as long as the sky remains above the earth, you and your children may flourish in the land the LORD swore to give your ancestors.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 11:23 - Then the LORD will drive out all the nations ahead of you, though they are much greater and stronger than you, and you will take over their land.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 11:24 - Wherever you set foot, that land will be yours. Your frontiers will stretch from the wilderness in the south to Lebanon in the north, and from the Euphrates River in the east to the Mediterranean Sea in the west.[fn]
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 11:25 - No one will be able to stand against you, for the LORD your God will cause the people to fear and dread you, as he promised, wherever you go in the whole land.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 11:26 - “Look, today I am giving you the choice between a blessing and a curse!
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 11:27 - You will be blessed if you obey the commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you today.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 11:28 - But you will be cursed if you reject the commands of the LORD your God and turn away from him and worship gods you have not known before.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 11:31 - For you are about to cross the Jordan River to take over the land the LORD your God is giving you. When you take that land and are living in it,
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 11:32 - you must be careful to obey all the decrees and regulations I am giving you today.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 12:1 - “These are the decrees and regulations you must be careful to obey when you live in the land that the LORD, the God of your ancestors, is giving you. You must obey them as long as you live.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 12:4 - “Do not worship the LORD your God in the way these pagan peoples worship their gods.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 12:5 - Rather, you must seek the LORD your God at the place of worship he himself will choose from among all the tribes—the place where his name will be honored.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 12:6 - There you will bring your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, your sacred offerings, your offerings to fulfill a vow, your voluntary offerings, and your offerings of the firstborn animals of your herds and flocks.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 12:7 - There you and your families will feast in the presence of the LORD your God, and you will rejoice in all you have accomplished because the LORD your God has blessed you.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 12:9 - because you have not yet arrived at the place of rest, the land the LORD your God is giving you as your special possession.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 12:10 - But you will soon cross the Jordan River and live in the land the LORD your God is giving you. When he gives you rest from all your enemies and you're living safely in the land,
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 12:11 - you must bring everything I command you—your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, your sacred offerings, and your offerings to fulfill a vow—to the designated place of worship, the place the LORD your God chooses for his name to be honored.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 12:12 - “You must celebrate there in the presence of the LORD your God with your sons and daughters and all your servants. And remember to include the Levites who live in your towns, for they will receive no allotment of land among you.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 12:17 - “But you may not eat your offerings in your hometown—neither the tithe of your grain and new wine and olive oil, nor the firstborn of your flocks and herds, nor any offering to fulfill a vow, nor your voluntary offerings, nor your sacred offerings.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 12:18 - You must eat these in the presence of the LORD your God at the place he will choose. Eat them there with your children, your servants, and the Levites who live in your towns, celebrating in the presence of the LORD your God in all you do.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 13:3 - do not listen to them. The LORD your God is testing you to see if you truly love him with all your heart and soul.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 13:4 - Serve only the LORD your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 13:5 - The false prophets or visionaries who try to lead you astray must be put to death, for they encourage rebellion against the LORD your God, who redeemed you from slavery and brought you out of the land of Egypt. Since they try to lead you astray from the way the LORD your God commanded you to live, you must put them to death. In this way you will purge the evil from among you.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 13:7 - They might suggest that you worship the gods of peoples who live nearby or who come from the ends of the earth.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 13:13 - that scoundrels among you are leading their fellow citizens astray by saying, ‘Let us go worship other gods'—gods you have not known before.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 14:1 - “Since you are the people of the LORD your God, never cut yourselves or shave the hair above your foreheads in mourning for the dead.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 15:5 - You will receive this blessing if you are careful to obey all the commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you today.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 16:3 - Eat it with bread made without yeast. For seven days the bread you eat must be made without yeast, as when you escaped from Egypt in such a hurry. Eat this bread—the bread of suffering—so that as long as you live you will remember the day you departed from Egypt.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 16:17 - All must give as they are able, according to the blessings given to them by the LORD your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 17:7 - The witnesses must throw the first stones, and then all the people may join in. In this way, you will purge the evil from among you.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 17:8 - “Suppose a case arises in a local court that is too hard for you to decide—for instance, whether someone is guilty of murder or only of manslaughter, or a difficult lawsuit, or a case involving different kinds of assault. Take such legal cases to the place the LORD your God will choose,
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 18:6 - “Suppose a Levite chooses to move from his town in Israel, wherever he is living, to the place the LORD chooses for worship.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 19:19 - you must impose on the accuser the sentence he intended for the other person. In this way, you will purge such evil from among you.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 20:3 - He will say to them, ‘Listen to me, all you men of Israel! Do not be afraid as you go out to fight your enemies today! Do not lose heart or panic or tremble before them.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 20:4 - For the LORD your God is going with you! He will fight for you against your enemies, and he will give you victory!'
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 20:18 - This will prevent the people of the land from teaching you to imitate their detestable customs in the worship of their gods, which would cause you to sin deeply against the LORD your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 21:9 - By following these instructions, you will do what is right in the LORD's sight and will cleanse the guilt of murder from your community.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 21:21 - Then all the men of his town must stone him to death. In this way, you will purge this evil from among you, and all Israel will hear about it and be afraid.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 22:21 - The woman must be taken to the door of her father's home, and there the men of the town must stone her to death, for she has committed a disgraceful crime in Israel by being promiscuous while living in her parents' home. In this way, you will purge this evil from among you.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 22:24 - you must take both of them to the gates of that town and stone them to death. The woman is guilty because she did not scream for help. The man must die because he violated another man's wife. In this way, you will purge this evil from among you.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 23:4 - These nations did not welcome you with food and water when you came out of Egypt. Instead, they hired Balaam son of Beor from Pethor in distant Aram-naharaim to curse you.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 24:4 - the first husband may not marry her again, for she has been defiled. That would be detestable to the LORD. You must not bring guilt upon the land the LORD your God is giving you as a special possession.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 24:7 - “If anyone kidnaps a fellow Israelite and treats him as a slave or sells him, the kidnapper must die. In this way, you will purge the evil from among you.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 24:9 - Remember what the LORD your God did to Miriam as you were coming from Egypt.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 26:16 - “Today the LORD your God has commanded you to obey all these decrees and regulations. So be careful to obey them wholeheartedly.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 28:1 - “If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the world.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 28:26 - Your corpses will be food for all the scavenging birds and wild animals, and no one will be there to chase them away.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 28:62 - Though you become as numerous as the stars in the sky, few of you will be left because you would not listen to the LORD your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 28:68 - Then the LORD will send you back to Egypt in ships, to a destination I promised you would never see again. There you will offer to sell yourselves to your enemies as slaves, but no one will buy you.”
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 29:2 - [fn]Moses summoned all the Israelites and said to them, “You have seen with your own eyes everything the LORD did in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to his whole country—
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 29:5 - For forty years I led you through the wilderness, yet your clothes and sandals did not wear out.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 29:6 - You ate no bread and drank no wine or other alcoholic drink, but he gave you food so you would know that he is the LORD your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 29:10 - All of you—tribal leaders, elders, officers, all the men of Israel—are standing today in the presence of the LORD your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 29:11 - Your little ones and your wives are with you, as well as the foreigners living among you who chop your wood and carry your water.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 29:15 - I am making this covenant both with you who stand here today in the presence of the LORD our God, and also with the future generations who are not standing here today.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 29:18 - I am making this covenant with you so that no one among you—no man, woman, clan, or tribe—will turn away from the LORD our God to worship these gods of other nations, and so that no root among you bears bitter and poisonous fruit.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 29:22 - “Then the generations to come, both your own descendants and the foreigners who come from distant lands, will see the devastation of the land and the diseases the LORD inflicts on it.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 30:19 - “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 31:6 - So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 31:12 - Call them all together—men, women, children, and the foreigners living in your towns—so they may hear this Book of Instruction and learn to fear the LORD your God and carefully obey all the terms of these instructions.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 31:13 - Do this so that your children who have not known these instructions will hear them and will learn to fear the LORD your God. Do this as long as you live in the land you are crossing the Jordan to occupy.”
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 31:26 - “Take this Book of Instruction and place it beside the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD your God, so it may remain there as a witness against the people of Israel.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 31:27 - For I know how rebellious and stubborn you are. Even now, while I am still alive and am here with you, you have rebelled against the LORD. How much more rebellious will you be after my death!
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 31:28 - “Now summon all the elders and officials of your tribes, so that I can speak to them directly and call heaven and earth to witness against them.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 31:29 - I know that after my death you will become utterly corrupt and will turn from the way I have commanded you to follow. In the days to come, disaster will come down on you, for you will do what is evil in the LORD's sight, making him very angry with your actions.”
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 32:46 - he added: “Take to heart all the words of warning I have given you today. Pass them on as a command to your children so they will obey every word of these instructions.
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 32:47 - These instructions are not empty words—they are your life! By obeying them you will enjoy a long life in the land you will occupy when you cross the Jordan River.”
Unchecked Copy BoxDeu 34:4 - Then the LORD said to Moses, “This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.' I have now allowed you to see it with your own eyes, but you will not enter the land.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 1:3 - I promise you what I promised Moses: ‘Wherever you set foot, you will be on land I have given you—
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 1:4 - from the Negev wilderness in the south to the Lebanon mountains in the north, from the Euphrates River in the east to the Mediterranean Sea[fn] in the west, including all the land of the Hittites.'
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 1:5 - No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 1:6 - “Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 1:11 - “Go through the camp and tell the people to get their provisions ready. In three days you will cross the Jordan River and take possession of the land the LORD your God is giving you.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 1:13 - “Remember what Moses, the servant of the LORD, commanded you: ‘The LORD your God is giving you a place of rest. He has given you this land.'
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 1:14 - Your wives, children, and livestock may remain here in the land Moses assigned to you on the east side of the Jordan River. But your strong warriors, fully armed, must lead the other tribes across the Jordan to help them conquer their territory. Stay with them
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 1:15 - until the LORD gives them rest, as he has given you rest, and until they, too, possess the land the LORD your God is giving them. Only then may you return and settle here on the east side of the Jordan River in the land that Moses, the servant of the LORD, assigned to you.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 2:9 - “I know the LORD has given you this land,” she told them. “We are all afraid of you. Everyone in the land is living in terror.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 2:10 - For we have heard how the LORD made a dry path for you through the Red Sea[fn] when you left Egypt. And we know what you did to Sihon and Og, the two Amorite kings east of the Jordan River, whose people you completely destroyed.[fn]
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 2:11 - No wonder our hearts have melted in fear! No one has the courage to fight after hearing such things. For the LORD your God is the supreme God of the heavens above and the earth below.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 2:14 - “We offer our own lives as a guarantee for your safety,” the men agreed. “If you don't betray us, we will keep our promise and be kind to you when the LORD gives us the land.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 2:16 - “Escape to the hill country,” she told them. “Hide there for three days from the men searching for you. Then, when they have returned, you can go on your way.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 2:21 - “I accept your terms,” she replied. And she sent them on their way, leaving the scarlet rope hanging from the window.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 3:3 - giving these instructions to the people: “When you see the Levitical priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD your God, move out from your positions and follow them.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 3:4 - Since you have never traveled this way before, they will guide you. Stay about a half mile[fn] behind them, keeping a clear distance between you and the Ark. Make sure you don't come any closer.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 4:3 - Tell them, ‘Take twelve stones from the very place where the priests are standing in the middle of the Jordan. Carry them out and pile them up at the place where you will camp tonight.'”
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 4:21 - Then Joshua said to the Israelites, “In the future your children will ask, ‘What do these stones mean?'
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 4:22 - Then you can tell them, ‘This is where the Israelites crossed the Jordan on dry ground.'
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 4:24 - He did this so all the nations of the earth might know that the LORD's hand is powerful, and so you might fear the LORD your God forever.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 5:9 - Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the shame of your slavery in Egypt.” So that place has been called Gilgal[fn] to this day.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 6:10 - “Do not shout; do not even talk,” Joshua commanded. “Not a single word from any of you until I tell you to shout. Then shout!”
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 7:12 - That is why the Israelites are running from their enemies in defeat. For now Israel itself has been set apart for destruction. I will not remain with you any longer unless you destroy the things among you that were set apart for destruction.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 7:13 - “Get up! Command the people to purify themselves in preparation for tomorrow. For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Hidden among you, O Israel, are things set apart for the LORD. You will never defeat your enemies until you remove these things from among you.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 9:23 - May you be cursed! From now on you will always be servants who cut wood and carry water for the house of my God.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 9:24 - They replied, “We did it because we—your servants—were clearly told that the LORD your God commanded his servant Moses to give you this entire land and to destroy all the people living in it. So we feared greatly for our lives because of you. That is why we have done this.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 10:8 - “Do not be afraid of them,” the LORD said to Joshua, “for I have given you victory over them. Not a single one of them will be able to stand up to you.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 10:19 - The rest of you continue chasing the enemy and cut them down from the rear. Don't give them a chance to get back to their towns, for the LORD your God has given you victory over them.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 10:24 - When they brought them out, Joshua told the commanders of his army, “Come and put your feet on the kings' necks.” And they did as they were told.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 10:25 - “Don't ever be afraid or discouraged,” Joshua told his men. “Be strong and courageous, for the LORD is going to do this to all of your enemies.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 18:4 - Select three men from each tribe, and I will send them out to explore the land and map it out. They will then return to me with a written report of their proposed divisions of their new homeland.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 22:3 - During all this time you have not deserted the other tribes. You have been careful to obey the commands of the LORD your God right up to the present day.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 22:4 - And now the LORD your God has given the other tribes rest, as he promised them. So go back home to the land that Moses, the servant of the LORD, gave you as your possession on the east side of the Jordan River.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 22:5 - But be very careful to obey all the commands and the instructions that Moses gave to you. Love the LORD your God, walk in all his ways, obey his commands, hold firmly to him, and serve him with all your heart and all your soul.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 22:19 - “If you need the altar because the land you possess is defiled, then join us in the LORD's land, where the Tabernacle of the LORD is situated, and share our land with us. But do not rebel against the LORD or against us by building an altar other than the one true altar of the LORD our God.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 22:24 - “The truth is, we have built this altar because we fear that in the future your descendants will say to ours, ‘What right do you have to worship the LORD, the God of Israel?
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 22:25 - The LORD has placed the Jordan River as a barrier between our people and you people of Reuben and Gad. You have no claim to the LORD.' So your descendants may prevent our descendants from worshiping the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 22:27 - but as a memorial. It will remind our descendants and your descendants that we, too, have the right to worship the LORD at his sanctuary with our burnt offerings, sacrifices, and peace offerings. Then your descendants will not be able to say to ours, ‘You have no claim to the LORD.'
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 22:28 - “If they say this, our descendants can reply, ‘Look at this copy of the LORD's altar that our ancestors made. It is not for burnt offerings or sacrifices; it is a reminder of the relationship both of us have with the LORD.'
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 23:3 - You have seen everything the LORD your God has done for you during my lifetime. The LORD your God has fought for you against your enemies.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 23:4 - I have allotted to you as your homeland all the land of the nations yet unconquered, as well as the land of those we have already conquered—from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea[fn] in the west.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 23:5 - This land will be yours, for the LORD your God will himself drive out all the people living there now. You will take possession of their land, just as the LORD your God promised you.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 23:8 - Rather, cling tightly to the LORD your God as you have done until now.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 23:9 - “For the LORD has driven out great and powerful nations for you, and no one has yet been able to defeat you.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 23:10 - Each one of you will put to flight a thousand of the enemy, for the LORD your God fights for you, just as he has promised.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 23:11 - So be very careful to love the LORD your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 23:12 - “But if you turn away from him and cling to the customs of the survivors of these nations remaining among you, and if you intermarry with them,
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 23:13 - then know for certain that the LORD your God will no longer drive them out of your land. Instead, they will be a snare and a trap to you, a whip for your backs and thorny brambles in your eyes, and you will vanish from this good land the LORD your God has given you.

Unchecked Copy BoxJos 24:6 - But when your ancestors arrived at the Red Sea,[fn] the Egyptians chased after you with chariots and charioteers.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 24:7 - When your ancestors cried out to the LORD, I put darkness between you and the Egyptians. I brought the sea crashing down on the Egyptians, drowning them. With your very own eyes you saw what I did. Then you lived in the wilderness for many years.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 24:8 - “Finally, I brought you into the land of the Amorites on the east side of the Jordan. They fought against you, but I destroyed them before you. I gave you victory over them, and you took possession of their land.

Unchecked Copy BoxJos 24:12 - And I sent terror[fn] ahead of you to drive out the two kings of the Amorites. It was not your swords or bows that brought you victory.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 24:14 - “So fear the LORD and serve him wholeheartedly. Put away forever the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD alone.
Unchecked Copy BoxJos 24:15 - But if you refuse to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD.”

Unchecked Copy BoxJdg 3:28 - “Follow me,” he said, “for the LORD has given you victory over Moab your enemy.” So they followed him. And the Israelites took control of the shallow crossings of the Jordan River across from Moab, preventing anyone from crossing.

Unchecked Copy BoxJdg 9:18 - But today you have revolted against my father and his descendants, killing his seventy sons on one stone. And you have chosen his slave woman's son, Abimelech, to be your king just because he is your relative.

And they were told, “Since the plague has struck both you and your five rulers, make five gold tumors and five gold rats, just like those that have ravaged your land.

Unchecked Copy Box1Sa 8:13 - The king will take your daughters from you and force them to cook and bake and make perfumes for him.
Unchecked Copy Box1Sa 8:14 - He will take away the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his own officials.
Unchecked Copy Box1Sa 8:15 - He will take a tenth of your grain and your grape harvest and distribute it among his officers and attendants.
Unchecked Copy Box1Sa 8:16 - He will take your male and female slaves and demand the finest of your cattle[fn] and donkeys for his own use.
Unchecked Copy Box1Sa 8:17 - He will demand a tenth of your flocks, and you will be his slaves.
Unchecked Copy Box1Sa 8:18 - When that day comes, you will beg for relief from this king you are demanding, but then the LORD will not help you.”
Unchecked Copy Box1Sa 9:12 - “Yes,” they replied. “Stay right on this road. He is at the town gates. He has just arrived to take part in a public sacrifice up at the place of worship.
Unchecked Copy Box1Sa 10:19 - But though I have rescued you from your misery and distress, you have rejected your God today and have said, ‘No, we want a king instead!' Now, therefore, present yourselves before the LORD by tribes and clans.”

Unchecked Copy Box1Sa 12:3 - Now testify against me in the presence of the LORD and before his anointed one. Whose ox or donkey have I stolen? Have I ever cheated any of you? Unchecked Copy Box1Sa 22:8 - Is that why you have conspired against me? For not one of you told me when my own son made a solemn pact with the son of Jesse. You're not even sorry for me. Think of it! My own son—encouraging him to kill me, as he is trying to do this very day!”
Unchecked Copy Box1Sa 23:23 - Discover his hiding places, and come back when you are sure. Then I'll go with you. And if he is in the area at all, I'll track him down, even if I have to search every hiding place in Judah!”

Unchecked Copy BoxJer 17:21 - This is what the LORD says: Listen to my warning! Stop carrying on your trade at Jerusalem's gates on the Sabbath day.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 17:22 - Do not do your work on the Sabbath, but make it a holy day. I gave this command to your ancestors,
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 18:11 - “Therefore, Jeremiah, go and warn all Judah and Jerusalem. Say to them, ‘This is what the LORD says: I am planning disaster for you instead of good. So turn from your evil ways, each of you, and do what is right.'”
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 21:8 - “Tell all the people, ‘This is what the LORD says: Take your choice of life or death!
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 23:2 - Therefore, this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says to these shepherds: “Instead of caring for my flock and leading them to safety, you have deserted them and driven them to destruction. Now I will pour out judgment on you for the evil you have done to them.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 23:39 - I will forget you completely.[fn] I will expel you from my presence, along with this city that I gave to you and your ancestors.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 25:4 - “Again and again the LORD has sent you his servants, the prophets, but you have not listened or even paid attention.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 25:5 - Each time the message was this: ‘Turn from the evil road you are traveling and from the evil things you are doing. Only then will I let you live in this land that the LORD gave to you and your ancestors forever.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 25:6 - Do not provoke my anger by worshiping idols you made with your own hands. Then I will not harm you.'
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 25:27 - Then the LORD said to me, “Now tell them, ‘This is what the LORD of Heaven's Armies, the God of Israel, says: Drink from this cup of my anger. Get drunk and vomit; fall to rise no more, for I am sending terrible wars against you.'
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 25:34 - Weep and moan, you evil shepherds!
Roll in the dust, you leaders of the flock!
The time of your slaughter has arrived;
you will fall and shatter like a fragile vase.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 26:4 - “Say to them, ‘This is what the LORD says: If you will not listen to me and obey my word I have given you,
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 26:11 - The priests and prophets presented their accusations to the officials and the people. “This man should die!” they said. “You have heard with your own ears what a traitor he is, for he has prophesied against this city.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 26:13 - But if you stop your sinning and begin to obey the LORD your God, he will change his mind about this disaster that he has announced against you.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 26:14 - As for me, I am in your hands—do with me as you think best.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 26:15 - But if you kill me, rest assured that you will be killing an innocent man! The responsibility for such a deed will lie on you, on this city, and on every person living in it. For it is absolutely true that the LORD sent me to speak every word you have heard.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 27:4 - Give them this message for their masters: ‘This is what the LORD of Heaven's Armies, the God of Israel, says:
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 27:9 - “‘Do not listen to your false prophets, fortune-tellers, interpreters of dreams, mediums, and sorcerers who say, “The king of Babylon will not conquer you.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 27:10 - They are all liars, and their lies will lead to your being driven out of your land. I will drive you out and send you far away to die.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 27:12 - Then I repeated this same message to King Zedekiah of Judah. “If you want to live, submit to the yoke of the king of Babylon and his people.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 27:15 - This is what the LORD says: ‘I have not sent these prophets! They are telling you lies in my name, so I will drive you from this land. You will all die—you and all these prophets, too.'”
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 28:7 - But listen now to the solemn words I speak to you in the presence of all these people.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 28:8 - The ancient prophets who preceded you and me spoke against many nations, always warning of war, disaster, and disease.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 29:6 - Marry and have children. Then find spouses for them so that you may have many grandchildren. Multiply! Do not dwindle away!
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 29:8 - This is what the LORD of Heaven's Armies, the God of Israel, says: “Do not let your prophets and fortune-tellers who are with you in the land of Babylon trick you. Do not listen to their dreams,
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 29:10 - This is what the LORD says: “You will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 29:12 - In those days when you pray, I will listen.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 29:13 - If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 29:21 - This is what the LORD of Heaven's Armies, the God of Israel, says about your prophets—Ahab son of Kolaiah and Zedekiah son of Maaseiah—who are telling you lies in my name: “I will turn them over to Nebuchadnezzar[fn] for execution before your eyes.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 29:32 - I will punish him and his family. None of his descendants will see the good things I will do for my people, for he has incited you to rebel against me. I, the LORD, have spoken!'”
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 30:17 - I will give you back your health
and heal your wounds,” says the LORD.
“For you are called an outcast—
‘Jerusalem[fn] for whom no one cares.'”
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 34:13 - “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I made a covenant with your ancestors long ago when I rescued them from their slavery in Egypt.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 35:6 - but they refused. “No,” they said, “we don't drink wine, because our ancestor Jehonadab[fn] son of Recab gave us this command: ‘You and your descendants must never drink wine.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 35:7 - And do not build houses or plant crops or vineyards, but always live in tents. If you follow these commands, you will live long, good lives in the land.'
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 35:15 - Time after time I sent you prophets, who told you, “Turn from your wicked ways, and start doing things right. Stop worshiping other gods so that you might live in peace here in the land I have given to you and your ancestors.” But you would not listen to me or obey me.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 37:9 - “This is what the LORD says: Do not fool yourselves into thinking that the Babylonians are gone for good. They aren't!
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 37:19 - Where are your prophets now who told you the king of Babylon would not attack you or this land?
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 38:5 - King Zedekiah agreed. “All right,” he said. “Do as you like. I can't stop you.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 40:10 - “As for me, I will stay at Mizpah to represent you before the Babylonians who come to meet with us. Settle in the towns you have taken, and live off the land. Harvest the grapes and summer fruits and olives, and store them away.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 42:4 - “All right,” Jeremiah replied. “I will pray to the LORD your God, as you have asked, and I will tell you everything he says. I will hide nothing from you.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 42:11 - Do not fear the king of Babylon anymore,' says the LORD. ‘For I am with you and will save you and rescue you from his power.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 42:12 - I will be merciful to you by making him kind, so he will let you stay here in your land.'
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 42:15 - then hear the LORD's message to the remnant of Judah. This is what the LORD of Heaven's Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘If you are determined to go to Egypt and live there,
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 42:16 - the very war and famine you fear will catch up to you, and you will die there.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 42:18 - “This is what the LORD of Heaven's Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Just as my anger and fury have been poured out on the people of Jerusalem, so they will be poured out on you when you enter Egypt. You will be an object of damnation, horror, cursing, and mockery. And you will never see your homeland again.'
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 42:20 - For you were not being honest when you sent me to pray to the LORD your God for you. You said, ‘Just tell us what the LORD our God says, and we will do it!'
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 44:7 - “And now the LORD God of Heaven's Armies, the God of Israel, asks you: Why are you destroying yourselves? For not one of you will survive—not a man, woman, or child among you who has come here from Judah, not even the babies in your arms.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 44:8 - Why provoke my anger by burning incense to the idols you have made here in Egypt? You will only destroy yourselves and make yourselves an object of cursing and mockery for all the nations of the earth.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 44:9 - Have you forgotten the sins of your ancestors, the sins of the kings and queens of Judah, and the sins you and your wives committed in Judah and Jerusalem?
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 44:21 - “Do you think the LORD did not know that you and your ancestors, your kings and officials, and all the people were burning incense to idols in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 44:22 - It was because the LORD could no longer bear all the disgusting things you were doing that he made your land an object of cursing—a desolate ruin without inhabitants—as it is today.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 44:23 - All these terrible things happened to you because you have burned incense to idols and sinned against the LORD. You have refused to obey him and have not followed his instructions, his decrees, and his laws.”
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 44:25 - This is what the LORD of Heaven's Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘You and your wives have said, “We will keep our promises to burn incense and pour out liquid offerings to the Queen of Heaven,” and you have proved by your actions that you meant it. So go ahead and carry out your promises and vows to her!'
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 46:4 - Harness the horses,
and mount the stallions.
Take your positions.
Put on your helmets.
Sharpen your spears,
and prepare your armor.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 48:6 - Flee for your lives!
Hide[fn] in the wilderness!
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 50:12 - But your homeland[fn] will be overwhelmed
with shame and disgrace.
You will become the least of nations—
a wilderness, a dry and desolate land.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 50:14 - “Yes, prepare to attack Babylon,
all you surrounding nations.
Let your archers shoot at her; spare no arrows.
For she has sinned against the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 51:24 - “I will repay Babylon
and the people of Babylonia[fn]
for all the wrong they have done
to my people in Jerusalem,” says the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxJer 51:50 - Get out, all you who have escaped the sword!
Do not stand and watch—flee while you can!
Remember the LORD, though you are in a far-off land,
and think about your home in Jerusalem.”
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 5:7 - “Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: You people have behaved worse than your neighbors and have refused to obey my decrees and regulations. You have not even lived up to the standards of the nations around you.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 6:3 - Proclaim this message from the Sovereign LORD against the mountains of Israel. This is what the Sovereign LORD says to the mountains and hills and to the ravines and valleys: I am about to bring war upon you, and I will smash your pagan shrines.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 6:4 - All your altars will be demolished, and your places of worship will be destroyed. I will kill your people in front of your idols.[fn]
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 6:5 - I will lay your corpses in front of your idols and scatter your bones around your altars.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 6:6 - Wherever you live there will be desolation, and I will destroy your pagan shrines. Your altars will be demolished, your idols will be smashed, your places of worship will be torn down, and all the religious objects you have made will be destroyed.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 6:7 - The place will be littered with corpses, and you will know that I alone am the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 6:8 - “But I will let a few of my people escape destruction, and they will be scattered among the nations of the world.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 6:9 - Then when they are exiled among the nations, they will remember me. They will recognize how hurt I am by their unfaithful hearts and lustful eyes that long for their idols. Then at last they will hate themselves for all their detestable sins.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 6:13 - They will know that I am the LORD when their dead lie scattered among their idols and altars on every hill and mountain and under every green tree and every great shade tree—the places where they offered sacrifices to their idols.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 9:5 - Then I heard the LORD say to the other men, “Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity!
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 11:5 - Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon me, and he told me to say, “This is what the LORD says to the people of Israel: I know what you are saying, for I know every thought that comes into your minds.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 11:6 - You have murdered many in this city and filled its streets with the dead.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 11:7 - “Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: This city is an iron pot all right, but the pieces of meat are the victims of your injustice. As for you, I will soon drag you from this pot.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 12:25 - For I am the LORD! If I say it, it will happen. There will be no more delays, you rebels of Israel. I will fulfill my threat of destruction in your own lifetime. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken!”
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 13:8 - “Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Because what you say is false and your visions are a lie, I will stand against you, says the Sovereign LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 13:12 - And when the wall falls, the people will cry out, ‘What happened to your whitewash?'
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 13:20 - “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against all your magic charms, which you use to ensnare my people like birds. I will tear them from your arms, setting my people free like birds set free from a cage.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 13:21 - I will tear off the magic veils and save my people from your grasp. They will no longer be your victims. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 13:23 - Because of all this, you will no longer talk of seeing visions that you never saw, nor will you make predictions. For I will rescue my people from your grasp. Then you will know that I am the LORD.”
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 14:6 - “Therefore, tell the people of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Repent and turn away from your idols, and stop all your detestable sins.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 16:45 - For your mother loathed her husband and her children, and so do you. And you are exactly like your sisters, for they despised their husbands and their children. Truly your mother was a Hittite and your father an Amorite.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 16:46 - “Your older sister was Samaria, who lived with her daughters in the north. Your younger sister was Sodom, who lived with her daughters in the south.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 18:25 - “Yet you say, ‘The Lord isn't doing what's right!' Listen to me, O people of Israel. Am I the one not doing what's right, or is it you?
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 18:29 - And yet the people of Israel keep saying, ‘The Lord isn't doing what's right!' O people of Israel, it is you who are not doing what's right, not I.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 18:30 - “Therefore, I will judge each of you, O people of Israel, according to your actions, says the Sovereign LORD. Repent, and turn from your sins. Don't let them destroy you!
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 18:31 - Put all your rebellion behind you, and find yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O people of Israel?
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 20:5 - Give them this message from the Sovereign LORD: When I chose Israel—when I revealed myself to the descendants of Jacob in Egypt—I took a solemn oath that I, the LORD, would be their God.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 20:7 - Then I said to them, ‘Each of you, get rid of the vile images you are so obsessed with. Do not defile yourselves with the idols[fn] of Egypt, for I am the LORD your God.'
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 20:18 - “Then I warned their children not to follow in their parents' footsteps, defiling themselves with their idols.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 20:19 - ‘I am the LORD your God,' I told them. ‘Follow my decrees, pay attention to my regulations,
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 20:20 - and keep my Sabbath days holy, for they are a sign to remind you that I am the LORD your God.'
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 20:27 - “Therefore, son of man, give the people of Israel this message from the Sovereign LORD: Your ancestors continued to blaspheme and betray me,
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 20:30 - “Therefore, give the people of Israel this message from the Sovereign LORD: Do you plan to pollute yourselves just as your ancestors did? Do you intend to keep prostituting yourselves by worshiping vile images?
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 20:31 - For when you offer gifts to them and give your little children to be burned as sacrifices,[fn] you continue to pollute yourselves with idols to this day. Should I allow you to ask for a message from me, O people of Israel? As surely as I live, says the Sovereign LORD, I will tell you nothing.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 20:36 - I will judge you there just as I did your ancestors in the wilderness after bringing them out of Egypt, says the Sovereign LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 20:38 - I will purge you of all those who rebel and revolt against me. I will bring them out of the countries where they are in exile, but they will never enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 20:39 - “As for you, O people of Israel, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Go right ahead and worship your idols, but sooner or later you will obey me and will stop bringing shame on my holy name by worshiping idols.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 20:40 - For on my holy mountain, the great mountain of Israel, says the Sovereign LORD, the people of Israel will someday worship me, and I will accept them. There I will require that you bring me all your offerings and choice gifts and sacrifices.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 20:42 - Then when I have brought you home to the land I promised with a solemn oath to give to your ancestors, you will know that I am the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 20:43 - You will look back on all the ways you defiled yourselves and will hate yourselves because of the evil you have done.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 20:44 - You will know that I am the LORD, O people of Israel, when I have honored my name by treating you mercifully in spite of your wickedness. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken!”
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 21:24 - “Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Again and again you remind me of your sin and your guilt. You don't even try to hide it! In everything you do, your sins are obvious for all to see. So now the time of your punishment has come!
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 23:49 - You will be fully repaid for all your prostitution—your worship of idols. Yes, you will suffer the full penalty. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.”
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 24:21 - and I was told to give this message to the people of Israel. This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will defile my Temple, the source of your security and pride, the place your heart delights in. Your sons and daughters whom you left behind in Judea will be slaughtered by the sword.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 24:23 - Your heads will remain covered, and your sandals will not be taken off. You will not mourn or weep, but you will waste away because of your sins. You will mourn privately for all the evil you have done.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 33:11 - As surely as I live, says the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of wicked people. I only want them to turn from their wicked ways so they can live. Turn! Turn from your wickedness, O people of Israel! Why should you die?
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 34:18 - Isn't it enough for you to keep the best of the pastures for yourselves? Must you also trample down the rest? Isn't it enough for you to drink clear water for yourselves? Must you also muddy the rest with your feet?
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 34:19 - Why must my flock eat what you have trampled down and drink water you have fouled?
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 34:21 - For you fat sheep pushed and butted and crowded my sick and hungry flock until you scattered them to distant lands.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 34:31 - You are my flock, the sheep of my pasture. You are my people, and I am your God. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken!”
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 36:3 - Therefore, son of man, give the mountains of Israel this message from the Sovereign LORD: Your enemies have attacked you from all directions, making you the property of many nations and the object of much mocking and slander.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 36:7 - Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I have taken a solemn oath that those nations will soon have their own shame to endure.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 36:8 - “But the mountains of Israel will produce heavy crops of fruit for my people—for they will be coming home again soon!
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 36:11 - I will increase not only the people, but also your animals. O mountains of Israel, I will bring people to live on you once again. I will make you even more prosperous than you were before. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 36:24 - For I will gather you up from all the nations and bring you home again to your land.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 36:25 - “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 36:26 - And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.[fn]
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 36:28 - “And you will live in Israel, the land I gave your ancestors long ago. You will be my people, and I will be your God.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 36:29 - I will cleanse you of your filthy behavior. I will give you good crops of grain, and I will send no more famines on the land.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 36:31 - Then you will remember your past sins and despise yourselves for all the detestable things you did.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 36:32 - But remember, says the Sovereign LORD, I am not doing this because you deserve it. O my people of Israel, you should be utterly ashamed of all you have done!
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 36:33 - “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: When I cleanse you from your sins, I will repopulate your cities, and the ruins will be rebuilt.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 36:36 - Then the surrounding nations that survive will know that I, the LORD, have rebuilt the ruins and replanted the wasteland. For I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will do what I say.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 37:12 - Therefore, prophesy to them and say, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: O my people, I will open your graves of exile and cause you to rise again. Then I will bring you back to the land of Israel.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 37:13 - When this happens, O my people, you will know that I am the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 37:14 - I will put my Spirit in you, and you will live again and return home to your own land. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have spoken, and I have done what I said. Yes, the LORD has spoken!'”
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 43:27 - On the eighth day, and on each day afterward, the priests will sacrifice on the altar the burnt offerings and peace offerings of the people. Then I will accept you. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken!”
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 44:6 - And give these rebels, the people of Israel, this message from the Sovereign LORD: O people of Israel, enough of your detestable sins!
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 44:7 - You have brought uncircumcised foreigners into my sanctuary—people who have no heart for God. In this way, you defiled my Temple even as you offered me my food, the fat and blood of sacrifices. In addition to all your other detestable sins, you have broken my covenant.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 44:30 - The first of the ripe fruits and all the gifts brought to the LORD will go to the priests. The first samples of each grain harvest and the first of your flour must also be given to the priests so the LORD will bless your homes.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 45:15 - and one sheep or goat for every 200 in your flocks in Israel. These will be the grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings that will make atonement for the people who bring them, says the Sovereign LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxEze 47:22 - Distribute the land as an allotment for yourselves and for the foreigners who have joined you and are raising their families among you. They will be like native-born Israelites to you and will receive an allotment among the tribes.
Unchecked Copy BoxDan 1:10 - But he responded, “I am afraid of my lord the king, who has ordered that you eat this food and wine. If you become pale and thin compared to the other youths your age, I am afraid the king will have me beheaded.”

Unchecked Copy BoxHos 2:2 - “But now bring charges against Israel—your mother—

They go up into the hills to burn incense
in the pleasant shade of oaks, poplars, and terebinth trees.

and your daughters-in-law commit adultery.
Unchecked Copy BoxHos 4:14 - But why should I punish them
for their prostitution and adultery?
For your men are doing the same thing,
sinning with whores and shrine prostitutes.
O foolish people! You refuse to understand,
so you will be destroyed.
Unchecked Copy BoxHos 5:2 - You have dug a deep pit to trap them at Acacia Grove.[fn]
But I will settle with you for what you have done.

what should I do with you?” asks the LORD.
“For your love vanishes like the morning mist

to slaughter you with my words,
with judgments as inescapable as light.
Unchecked Copy BoxHos 7:5 - On royal holidays, the princes get drunk with wine,
carousing with those who mock them.

Say to him,
“Forgive all our sins and graciously receive us,

Listen, all who live in the land.
In all your history,

and let your children tell their children.
Pass the story down from generation to generation.
