“Surely it will be a trial! And what if the sword despises even the scepter? The scepter will not continue.”[fn] This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.
I will cut off the ruler from Ashdod,
and the one who wields the scepter from Ashkelon.
I will also turn my hand against Ekron,
and the remainder of the Philistines will perish.
The Lord GOD has spoken.
“The land will mourn, every family by itself: the family of David's house by itself and their women by themselves; the family of Nathan's[fn] house by itself and their women by themselves;
“the family of Levi's house by itself and their women by themselves; the family of Shimei[fn] by itself and their women by themselves;
