They judged the people at all times; they would bring the hard cases to Moses, but they would judge every minor case themselves.
At the LORD's command they were registered under the direction of Moses, each one according to his work and transportation duty, and his assignment was as the LORD commanded Moses.
When they reported to Saul, he sent other agents, and they also began prophesying. So Saul tried again and sent a third group of agents, and even they began prophesying.
His buttery words are smooth,
but war is in his heart.
His words are softer than oil,
but they are drawn swords.
Though they curse, you will bless.
When they rise up, they will be put to shame,
but your servant will rejoice.
Let my persecutors be put to shame,
but don't let me be put to shame.
Let them be terrified, but don't let me be terrified.
Bring on them the day of disaster;

“But I acted for the sake of my name, so that it would not be profaned in the eyes of the nations they were living among, in whose sight I had made myself known to Israel by bringing them out of Egypt.
“ ‘They will live in the land that I gave to my servant Jacob, where your ancestors lived. They will live in it forever with their children and grandchildren, and my servant David will be their prince forever.
“My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people.
God gave these four young men knowledge and understanding in every kind of literature and wisdom. Daniel also understood visions and dreams of every kind.
Samaria will bear her guilt
because she has rebelled against her God.
They will fall by the sword;
their children will be dashed to pieces,
and their pregnant women ripped open.
Woe to those who are at ease in Zion
and to those who feel secure on the hill of Samaria —
the notable people in this first of the nations,
those the house of Israel comes to.
