“Be glad and rejoice, because your reward is great in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

“Don't be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask him.

“This is the one about whom it is written:

See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you;

he will prepare your way before you.

When the eight days were completed for his circumcision, he was named Jesus ​— ​the name given by the angel before he was conceived.

ahead of you;

he will prepare your way before you.

He sent messengers ahead of himself, and on the way they entered a village of the Samaritans to make preparations for him.
