and said, “Prophesy to us, Messiah! Who was it that hit you? ”

After a little while those standing there approached and said to Peter, “You really are one of them, since even your accent[fn] gives you away.”

“What do you have to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are ​— ​the Holy One of God! ”

and when they found him they said, “Everyone is looking for you.”

A crowd was sitting around him and told him, “Look, your mother, your brothers, and your sisters[fn] are outside asking for you.”

And he cried out with a loud voice, “What do you have to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you before God, don't torment me! ”

Jesus did not let him but told him, “Go home to your own people, and report to them how much the Lord has done for you and how he has had mercy on you.”

His disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing against you, and yet you say, ‘Who touched me? ' ”

“Daughter,” he said to her, “your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be healed from your affliction.”

Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”

So they called the blind man and said to him, “Have courage! Get up; he's calling for you.”

When they all denied it, Peter[fn] said, “Master, the crowds are hemming you in and pressing against you.”[fn]

“Daughter,” he said to her, “your faith has saved you.[fn] Go in peace.”

As he was saying these things, a woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you and the one who nursed you! ”

“If, therefore, your whole body is full of light, with no part of it in darkness, it will be entirely illuminated, as when a lamp shines its light on you.”

“As you are going with your adversary to the ruler, make an effort to settle with him on the way. Then he won't drag you before the judge, the judge hand you over to the bailiff, and the bailiff throw you into prison.

Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and make your bed,”[fn] and immediately he got up.

While Peter was thinking about the vision, the Spirit told him, “Three men are here looking for you.

They said, “Cornelius, a centurion, an upright and God-fearing man, who has a good reputation with the whole Jewish nation, was divinely directed by a holy angel to call you to his house and to hear a message from you.”

“For this is what the Lord has commanded us:

I have made you

a light for the Gentiles

to bring salvation

to the ends of the earth.”

“For I am with you, and no one will lay a hand on you to hurt you, because I have many people in this city.”

“And he said, ‘The God of our ancestors has appointed you to know his will, to see the Righteous One, and to hear the words from his mouth,

“He said to me, ‘Go, because I will send you far away to the Gentiles.' ”

That you may be justified in your words

and triumph when you judge.

As it is written: I have made you the father of many nations ​— ​ in the presence of the God in whom he believed, the one who gives life to the dead and calls things into existence that do not exist.

because the law[fn] of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you[fn] free from the law[fn] of sin and death.

For the Scripture tells Pharaoh, I raised you up for this reason so that I may display my power in you and that my name may be proclaimed in the whole earth.

For even Christ did not please himself. On the contrary, as it is written, The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.

For who makes you so superior? What do you have that you didn't receive? If, in fact, you did receive it, why do you boast as if you hadn't received it?

As I urged you when I went to Macedonia, remain in Ephesus so that you may instruct certain people not to teach false doctrine

to keep this command without fault or failure until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Remembering your tears, I long to see you so that I may be filled with joy.

Therefore, I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is in you through the laying on of my hands.
