So when they had gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Who is it you want me to release for you ​— ​Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ? ”

Pilate asked them, “What should I do then with Jesus, who is called Christ? ”

They all answered, “Crucify him! ”

His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jews, since the Jews had already agreed that if anyone confessed him as the Messiah, he would be banned from the synagogue.

“This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent ​— ​Jesus Christ.

“that seasons of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send Jesus, who has been appointed for you as the Messiah.

Every day in the temple, and in various homes, they continued teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.

Philip went down to a[fn] city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah to them.

“If, then, God gave them the same gift that he also gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, how could I possibly hinder God? ”

When Silas and Timothy arrived from Macedonia, Paul devoted himself to preaching the word[fn] and testified to the Jews that Jesus is the Messiah.

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh to gratify its desires.

Greet also the church that meets in their home. Greet my dear friend Epaenetus, who is the first convert[fn] to Christ from Asia.[fn]

We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are dishonored!

Let us not test Christ as some of them did[fn] and were destroyed by snakes.

Moreover, we are found to be false witnesses about God, because we have testified wrongly about God that he raised up Christ ​— ​whom he did not raise up, if in fact the dead are not raised.

From now on, then, we do not know anyone from a worldly perspective.[fn] Even if we have known Christ from a worldly perspective,[fn] yet now we no longer know him in this way.

But I fear that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your minds may be seduced from a sincere and pure[fn] devotion to Christ.

The law, then, was our guardian until Christ, so that we could be justified by faith.

But that is not how you came to know Christ,

Our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly wait for a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elements of the world, rather than Christ.

I pray that your participation in the faith may become effective through knowing every good thing that is in us[fn] for the glory of Christ.
