The angel told the women, “Don't be afraid, because I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.
“Don't be alarmed,” he told them. “You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they put him.
So the women were terrified and bowed down to the ground.
“Why are you looking for the living among the dead? ” asked the men.
When Jesus turned and noticed them following him, he asked them, “What are you looking for? ”
They said to him, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying? ”
“How can you believe, since you accept glory from one another but don't seek the glory that comes from the only God?
“Didn't Moses give you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law. Why are you trying to kill me? ”
Jesus knew they wanted to ask him, and so he said to them, “Are you asking one another about what I said, ‘In a little while, you will not see me; again in a little while, you will see me'?
Then Jesus, knowing everything that was about to happen to him, went out and said to them, “Who is it that you're seeking? ”
Then he asked them again, “Who is it that you're seeking? ”
“Jesus of Nazareth,” they said.
“I told you I am he,” Jesus replied. “So if you're looking for me, let these men go.”
Then Peter went down to the men and said, “Here I am, the one you're looking for. What is the reason you're here? ”
“But seek first the kingdom of God[fn] and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.
“Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door[fn] will be opened to you.
“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you.
“Don't strive for what you should eat and what you should drink, and don't be anxious.
So also you — since you are zealous for spiritual gifts,[fn] seek to excel in building up the church.
